15 ahead for $32,000

Josh should be ready for Tunica 10 ball tournament. If there done with this match by then. Get the cheese Josh. Will make the PIZZAS.

I recall in the last decade four players who got robbed at gunpoint. A couple of them were beat up pretty badly.

Playing for this kind of dough, what is being mentioned in this thread, to publicize the match on this public forum is inviting trouble. I think we all enjoy reading about it. That's for sure, but it also gives puts in grave danger those who are holding the money in these gambling matches.

I remember the time when Tony Watson arrived at the Music City Open and pulled out two great big bundles of cash -- IN FULL VIEW -- and barked an invitation to anybody who wanted to play him some. Tony was with his backer Steve in the pool room. Later in the wee hours of the morning as the pool room was closing, they drove to a Waffle Shop to get a bite to eat en route to their hotel. As they got out of their car in the parking lot of Waffle Shop, they were robbed at gunpoint. And it was a big number that they were robbed of, more than what's being talked about in this thread.

Shannon Daulton and Ronnie Wiseman were also robbed of their dough in a pool-related incident.

I understand the excitement of sweating matches like this of big stakes. Within the pool rooms when something like this happens, the pool enthusiasts, players, and fans wants to draw near and watch the show as it unfolds. The problem is that this also attracts those who think they can steal this money, and if they aren't capable of stealing it themselves, they will contact somebody who will.

A local shooter, Pookie, came back to our area from down South after making a big score of five figures. He came to the pool room upon his return and shared his pool tale of riches. A couple of the regulars stated they knew of a big poker game in Baltimore area and invited Pookie. Well, as you might have guessed, two men armed with guns robbed the game. They knew beforehand who was holding, and they put a gun to Pookie's head and told him to ship it.

I'm not sure what the answer is. We all enjoy hearing the gambling exploits, but hearing about them beforehand and during, does this invite trouble?

What do you think?

If you are flamboyant with your bankroll then these types of things are inevitable. It's strictly a numbers game. Tony is somewhat famous for "flashing" his big bankroll (back in the day) and chirping about how much he is packing. This is a classic no no.

I remember one time when I was about 17 and had like 600 in 20 dollar bills in my pocket. I was getting my oil changed in somewhat of a "seedy" part of town and when it came time to pay I pulled out the whole thing and paid off. The guy cashing me out had tats and looked like a convicted felon and said..."damn where did you get all that money". I don't remember my response but it sank in real quick that a specific dollar amount to me is a completely different amount to others. People get killed over 100 dollars or less everyday.

I've been around big action, held big money, and know several others that have and never had a problem (knocking on wood now). There are certain precautions people take in order to keep these type of things from happening the best they can.

Quick Tony story...years ago at DCC him and Hooker were eating at the hotel restaurant. They were chirping and woofing and long story short both of them proceeded to take out probably 20 to 50k a piece and just set it right on the breakfast table. They kept it there like no big deal. I take it this was after he was robbed at the Waffle house too.

Josh was not flashing a bid roll. He got robbed of maybe no more than a $1000. The man is very discreet when it comes to cash. He made that score in New Orleans came back to Columbia bought materials for his house he's been remodeling. Josh has learned the skill of money management. Proud to be a longtime friend of Josh's all around great person.

Amen TK! Josh is an even more solid dude than a player.

It's hard for people to know the player when there on the road. This is a good way to let them know to respect Josh as a good person not just a good player.

One of the big reasons people are getting shot for small $ now is because a lot of states have the 3 strikes and your out law or min 15-life the third time. If the guy is on 2 fouls he feels he has to kill you so he can't be fingered. When there on 2 they will kill you weather you hand them a dime or have know money.Johnnyt

Good for them sticking it out and grinding. These marathon sets are what makes a Champion a Champion! I feel sorry for the next guys that match up with either one of these two young guns. They are gonna play a ball better after this fiasco.

I'll tell you.
Gary beats Lil D even.
Gary would get hijacked against Josh.

Gary will of course say he needs the 8 from D and something crazy from Josh. That's just Gary being Gary.
:)
