17 Racks!

Hey all. I just wanted to gloat a little. Last night I was playing some king of the hill hurricane eight ball (APA rules) with a few friends and a couple of guys I don't know. Buck a game(which ain't much, but I usually choke for any kinda dough), and I proceeded to keep the table for 17 games in a row! Man, it was sweet, my break was like a hammer, I don't know where it came from. I broke and ran at least eight in a row. A minor achievement, I know, but it felt great! I was playing with some guys who usually and pretty consistently beat me so I let their cash build up in a pile next to the table, and they just kept shaking their heads and reaching into their pockets. As I said before, I usually crack under cash pressure, and I think this was a major step for me getting over it. I finally lost by breaking the eight and knocking the cue ball off the table. My turn came up again, and I ran four or five more games, and everybody quit. First time I've EVER had people quit on ME! Thanks for letting me bragg a little, I had to tell SOMEONE!

Peace
~DC :p :D

Dave, I hope the security camera/video was on.
Get a copy of it. LOL
Great shooting. Now, if we can only put dead punch in a can so we can retrieve it when needed.

What? A minor achievement? What planet do you play on,cuz here on Earth, 8 in a row is NOT minor. I don't mean to sound like an a$$ here, but be proud of that. Peace!

Thank you. I would just point out that hurricane 8 ball is four stripes, four solids, and the 8 racked like 9 ball. So it's not like I ran 8 FULL racks of 8 ball, a different story altogether. But thanks, and I am quite proud of myself. AHHHH, if only I could do it all the time :p I'm workin' on it.......

Peace

Nice going, Crawman. Wish more people on the forum would post about their own special accomplishments. All of us delight in each other's achievements.

Way to go dude! It doesn't matter so much if it's "Hurricane 8" or not, you beat the guys that usually beat you and you did it for the CASH!!! You got bragging rights cause you earned them! :D

OK, I have to mention this again as I'm still quite proud of it Im not sure how it rates in the greater scheme of things.

In Las vegas BCA team event two years ago I ran out first visit 25 out of 30 racks.

Of the 5 that I didn't run out first visit I missed two blacks and didn't get a shot in another two, the other frame was a scrappy one. So if you ignore the two frames I didn't get a shot I was two missed blacks away from running out 27 out of 28 racks Grr!

Not sure how many I did back to back but 8 in a row is pretty fantastic!

Crawdaddio,
Good shooting. I just wanted to echo SJM's sentiment, that I enjoy hearing about other's enthusiasm for their accomplishments. Keep us informed.

I had a practice partner for a year, we played 6 to 8 hours every Sunday, both of us played in the straight pool league. We were able to dissect in great detail our matches (and yes, gloating over good shots or unlikely victories was definitely part of it). All great shots were applauded. My friend moved to Florida last winter, and I can tell you there is no one here who cares in the least whether I made that last nearly impossible runout - I will tell you that all accomplishments are more satisfying when shared with fellow enthusiasts.

Thanks to all for your replies. Just finished second in my weekly tournament--I'm havin' a good week. Anybody else wanna pat themselves on the back? Who's got a story to share? I wanna hear 'em.

Willie--I agree, I finally got onto a league team with some good friends who respect the game and appreciate it most when it's well played--no matter who's playin' it. It'll be great to play with them, we start this week in an APA master's league. Should be fun!

Peace
DC
