nevermind! read the other post about missing the point because obviously you did as well and thanks for pointing out AGAIN that a bomb scare has nothing to do with pool. See I knew you missed the point!

haha he didn't miss the point...he was just emphasizing that your example IS sharking b/c it ain't related to pool...putting a bet on the side isn't sharking b/c you're not trying knock a guy's concentration, simply put some $$ on this side - which if anything, should make him concentrate more.
If me and you are playing in a tourney and i ask you if you wanna put 20 on the side before we start, there shouldn't be any reason that would rattle you, or be considered an attempt to. It's not its something that might take your mind away from winning like a bomb threat or whatnot, its something thats related to the game, and a little more incentive to win;) .
Like you said though, everyone has their opinion and I respect yours.

Yeah I gotta say that bomb scare analogy didn't work for me either. One is totally pool related, and one is not.

Plus, a lot of people appreciate the opportunity to side bet on a match. Maybe they'd think you were sharking if you didn't offer it :D
(usually people don't appreciate bomb threats or sleeping with their wife, IMHO)

I DIDN"T miss the point at all. It's just that if someone asks to make a wager before a match and you don't want to bet all you have to say is no, that's the end of it, why would you be thinking of it during your match? It has nothing to do with you. But those other things you mentioned - bomb scare, wife cheating etc.. are things that would weigh on one's mind because they directly affect a person.

I am sure that this is some great pool being played here. I for one cant stand one-pocket. Playing it is like having teeth pulled and watching it is like watching two people who have never held a cue before. If you did not know what the object was you would be telling yourself that this is the worst pool I have ever seen. Just my .02, I like watching snooker, straight pool, banks, 9ball, 8ball, 10ball, etc...
Anyways, rep for the link. It was.. interesting?

Nobody has the balls that Shannon had, or has. He's one of my favorite players of all time, and I wish he would get back to playing tournaments, so the world could know how good this guy can play.

I did see him play at the last US Open. He got knocked out be Lee Van Corteza (in the field of 32?). I believe it was hill-hill, or one game from it. Shannon took a timeout right at the end. He put on his coat and walked outside. His "5 minute allowance" musta been @ 15 minutes or 6 butts-worth. And he also just won right before Thanksgiving on his own tour, in the $20,000 added Players Championship at King Street Billiards in Fayetteville, NC.

For his very limited and restricted playing/practicing schedule (from what I know) the man doesn't appear too far from regaining his old form. I agree 420, it would be great to see him back in full swing, but...

He and Marge are great hosts on their tour. Last year I played my first ever "real" tourney and it was theirs. Excellent experience all around. Just good ole folk with no airs about them. So helpful and kind. I had Shannon in my second match and laid down for him, not wanting to pee in his Wheaties and all. ;)

Shannon and Marge are now in the middle of practicing for the RockBand Nationals....
She plays the drums and he sings....I got the pleasure of playing the Bass and their buddy chris played guitar....
I think we got a chance!!!

After you give me what you PROMISED me, the break and the 5 out on a bartable. :)
I think you have me mistaken for someone who can play, I wouldn't even give that to JCIN.:D Enough with the "splitting hairs" we can just play even. Short race for something decent to eat and a couple of beers?
