1950s/1960s cue ID

So this cue gets brought into my pool hall today. $100 gets it. Pretty old titlist custom. Has a pearlized ring above the buttcap. 5/16×18 pin that is cut flush with the brass joint collar. My buddy who is pretty knowledgeable says it's a Rich cue.

Anybody else have an idea?

The shaft was cut short abd the wrap lost. I'm going to rewrap it with some vintage cuttyhunk line I have. Then have my cuemaker take the shaft down at the collar and make a tenon to insert into the shaft to make a new one, but preserve the shaft insert and pilot.

looks like a crack in the butt. if not still isnt very good to spend much on this.

if going to, do a full conversion and dump all of his old inferior work. he wasnt known for making good cues.

you will never be happy with a half asssk job piecing things together.

Nothing cracked. Butt of the cue is solid.

I would never erase the patina. Just preserve it as much as possible. I have reused shaft collars/ inserts like this on restorations, works very well.

I collect old cues because they tell a story. Just bought this other one for 38 bucks. It is in great condition, 1940s cue I expect.

Here's a 1930s double butterfly cue I converted because it was broken off just above the midway point.

That first one (Rich?) would sure make a great "re" conversion, looks
like rosewood full splice... push those points up some. Even go wrapless...

Quick question, how do you know of the cues age?

I see these mentioned are from the 40's, 50's, 60's etc. What determines that?

The Brunswick double butterfly can be seen in,1930s catalogs

The plain cue with ivory joint has a brass pin in the shaft, real thin straight taper. May well be a 3 cushion billiards cue. Everything about it is pre 1950, not anything older than 1940.

The titlist cue was made with an early blank. It is not made from a Titlist house cue but a factory blank. The really short butt below the wrap groove and the buttcap are a style that can't be anything more recent that the early 1960s. Could well be 1950s, I would favor that

Here's one I had from 1910 era. Got it for $300 with a custom case. Sold it to a collector for $1900. Wish I never sold it. 100 year old cue, it was immaculate.

That last one I never would have sold, very cool cue that looks in very, very good condition.

Many will say Rich off that bat, but that's kind of the default answer. I don't think it is a Rich.

Very cool cue. I would restore and not mess with the patina.

Yep just making a new shaft and wrapping the cue with some old beige cuttyhunk linen I have.
