1Pocket etiquette question ???

You know how people like to reach into their pocket and count / move balls right? Well, how about when they do it when you are lined up, or are lining up your shot? To me you should only do that when it's your turn to shoot or your fellow competitor is away from the table. i.e. you are not distracting them. Do some people do this as a tactic?

So, what do you guys think?

I usually love seeing these kinds of antics. To me, it means that my opponent is afraid and feels the need to try and shark me. When this happens, I try to use it to my advantage and pound them even more. JMO.

I got into a good habit of not approaching the table til my opponent took his seat. My mentor clued me into it because it's almost a blatant shark to jump out of your seat when the other guy is at the table.

Also, seeing the table from the view point of your seat will sometimes help you see a new angle on things. You know how when you are seated and everything looks easy for your opponent, but he makes an error from not walking around the table..........ie. DEAD BALL!

No, I don't. To date, I've never had to play one pocket on a drop-pocket table. It's probably coming, you don't see too many 9 foot tables in the south with ball returns. I HATE DROP-POCKET TABLES!!!

Edit: Outside of my house, anyway. My table has drop pockets, unfortunately, I don't count practice at home.

Playing on Brunswick GC 3's with ball returns and tray storage, it seems natural to allow a player to move balls into the tray, count, ponder, look, etc. as long as necessary for them, then they go sit the hell down or move away until it is next their shot.

Meandering back in when it is my time at the table to do the pondering for my next great shot would be taken as intrusion, perhaps a signal for a bathroom break, and otherwise get the heck out of the way so my slow rhythm isn't slowed down even more by opponents meddling. If YOU want me to shoot faster, shut the f*8k up and let me be. I takes my time, and I give you yours so don't slow me down more by messing with me, or it is back to square one. Actually, never played one-pocket on a table without ball returns, but methinks I can keep count.

Seems like an open-and-shut case to me. You're of course right, and I'm sure some low people pull this. 'Tis the nature.

yo man for sure, i hate that too. the chalk has already done him as much good as it could.

i used to play 1 pocket on tables with a ball return and there's a space just above the ball return that can seperate the balls so i didn't encounter this problem until recently. i take the time to look over the rack more to make sure i don't miss anything
