balls have you hit? I have heard a couple of references to pros having hit 2,000,000 + balls minimum. I really have no idea, but after some thought I would say somewhere between 1/2 - 1 mil for me. 2,000,000 balls equats to approximately 202.94 games of 9 ball for everyday for 3 years ... and that is assuming YOU do ALL the shooting.

How many have you hit?

Well I will guarantee I am not in that category but I will take a stab at a guess.

13-20 played 3 days a week about 50 games a day: 62400
20-26 managed a pool hall. Played 7 days a week 8-12 hours a day: 182000
26-28 worked in another two pool rooms: 31200
28-31 play 4 days a week: 62400

Total: 338,000 balls

Now that is very approximately. I guess I am short about 1.5 million balls. Someone tell the boss I am out for the day!:p

Too many!!

I've only been playing about 5 years but I shoot way more than most people because I keep missing.

I'm actually mildly surprised - That's not a bad stat. Most people may forget that a good practice session will cut that number down quickly. In practice, a rack of 9-ball will only take a couple of minutes so pocketing 20 racks an hour is quite reasonable.

In sum, if you've pocketed 2 million+, you're either old or do nothing but play pool.

I can't sit down and figure out how many I've made over the years but I'm 100% certain I'm no where near 1 million.

Let's see,

I shot about 4 days a week for 5 hours or so for 2 years: 4 days * 9 ball * approx 6 * 5 * 52 weeks * 2 = 112320

Worked in a hall and played about 7 hours a day 7 days a week for 3 years: 7 days * 9 ball * approx 6 games * 7 hours * 52 weeks * 3 years = 412776

Didn't play for 2 years: 0

Played for the past 2 years about 3 days a week and for less hours: 3 days * 9 balls * approx 10 * 4 hours * 52 weeks * 2 years = 112320

112320
412776

637416-ish?

Just an estimate, I figured for about 6 games / hour, until recently, I'm shooting about 10 games per hour...

Also note: I would consider this number roughly equivelent to my skill level in regard to pro at 2 million.

There is no damn telling. I've hit enough in one day to make someone hate pool. I've started playing at 10 A.M and not stop but to eat or use the restroom until 1 almost 2 A.M.

Different math: I hit an average of 300 balls a session, averaging 4.5 times/week, for 16 years:

300 x 4.5 x 16 x 52 = 1,123,200

I'm quite sure this is a low estimate. There's been a lot of longer days and not many lulls :D If I had to guess it'd be around 1.5 mil.

//I think I might have a pool addiction...

edit: recalculating for 150 balls,/day would cut it in half and is probably closer, upon thinking about it.

Only 9

I play 9 ball all the time at home. Same balls, same table, same home so only 9. :D

Imagine how many Grady must have hit! Wow. That would be a scary number. Especially when you consider how much each one was worth!

I have well over half a million in my lifetime, but figure I am closing in on half a million over the past 3+ years of playing nearly every day.

I have been playing for 33 years.

I usually hit between 500-600 balls a day (conservative estimate - lets say 550 - believe me, I practice for 5-7 hours regularly, so this is a very conservative estimate)

I play pool 5 days a week - consistently (260 days per year)

33 X 550 X 260 = 4,719,000

Just under 5 million and I'm not even 50 years old yet - and I believe that its probably more than that.

I've been playing for 22 years, and for about 8 years, I played once a week, at the local pool club, untill I gotta Home sized table to practice on, and I started practicing regularly and for alot more hours, in fact, when I was 16/17, on occasions, I would play for a good 23 hours, (With food/coffee breaks during that time) and then practicing on average of about 10 - 12 hours per day, and that was before I first started working in a pool hall, which of course, I made the most of free table time there too :D

all together, from the amount of table time that I've put in, including at tournaments, I've probably hit around 7/8,000,000 balls +/- 1 Mil, and I'm still in my 20's, but for me, it's been pure determination and dedication to working to become a better player, but even with all that practice, I will never stop learning, and that's what I enjoy most about pool :)
