2 Rail Kicks

Guys, I tried this shot one time over the weekend. I was really showing the kick to Spike Aiardo (can't remember his alias here on AZB) since some were questioning if it was possible using normal systems.

Using Joe's system, I shot the kick 1-to-1 on the 12:30-2 circle. You know what that means (& why I chose it) if you've seen the system. First try, I kicked the ball in the hole. Spike giggled.

I tried the shot this morning. I broke the distance from the 1st diamond to the corner pocket into 7 segments by placing pennies on the rail.. Remembering Lil Joe I tried reverse english starting with 1:00, 1:30 ect.

1/7th is the closest you can get to corner without pocket interference.

Results: Hit the shot 3 times out of about 15 total using 3:00 and aiming at 1/7th diamond from the corner pocket on a 9' table.

The shot was sensitive in that there was not 2 consecutive contacts.

My friend Ron came in seeing what I had tried, shot one shot with inside english, made clean contact on the OB making it in the corner pocket. Alas, he could not repeat it. He had also aimed at the 1/7 diamond spot.

It looks like a good proposition shot to contact the OB with say ten tries.

Tried that today, seem to get a higher chance of hitting the ball.. but speed is an issue when the cb is in other positions like 7 or 8....

thanks, by far this is system seem to have the highest chance of getting the ob

I'm not quite clear on the explanation. Did you aim just to the right of the outer part of the corner pocket molding and use half a tip (roughly) of right english?

This system has gears. If I can recall correctly. There is a calibration on the actual contact point on the CB. I think gear #1 is about 1/8 inch off of center ball. Each following gear is about the same. That is the actual tip to CB contact point, not the ferule position.

Today for the last time I tried the problem.

Calibrate the long rail diamond near the corner pocket similar to a poster above. Numbering is 5 at the diamond, 3 at the half diamond.

Aim at the half diamond or point 3 (half diamond) with 3:00 english at medium speed. I find more than gear 2 (of about 1/4 inch) is required. Now here, someone with a better stroke may be able to do this with less side. :)

Actual contact slightly wider than one tip. Approx 15mm. Not in line with the ferule but actual point of contact. The shot can be hit somewhat consistently.

You can walk the path of the CB up the side rail by changing the angle of contact to 2:30, 2:00 ect. Or, you can use another point on the far corner long rail.

On a side note. Buy or borrow a copy of Lil Joe's DVD. It is outstanding and presented in a straight forward way. If I was to have only 4 DVDs or Videos, this would be one of them. His instruction was noted in another thread last December.
