Shot pool last night. Its been 20 plus years.wow did it feel good but I don't remember being that bad, or was it that I was never very good. Lol. But anyway its like finding an old love again. Gonna have to retire my old dufferin and buy a new stick. Any recomendations. I have about 350 dollars to spend and my dufferin is a sneaky Pete already so I don't want another as that will be my shooter till I get used to the new stick.

cue under $350

My first suggestions would be two of my favorite cues, Pechauer and Joss.
Pechauer makes a very nice sneaky pete that you can get new for $270-$300. Have you ever played with MEUCCI ORIGINALS? If you have, and liked them, I have three for sale...

The time's have changed!

My advice is to try a low deflection shafted cue. It will take some getting used to but once it clicks you will never look back. Now's a good time to make a major change like this with 20 years of forgetting behind you. I have a predator sneaky pete with a unilock joint but don't like the hit compared to a couple other cues I have with a plastic joint and pred 314 2 shafts. Find a cue you love the butt of and add a shaft. No need to spend a ton to get a nice player.

If you like the wrapless butt I have one of these L'Americano cues made by joss that I bought from a friend for next to nothing just to help him out and had no idea I would love it. For the money these cues are pretty nice.

Welcome to the Forum. There are many cues for sale in the Wanted/For Sale section here on AZ Billiards. Start a post over there with your budget and what you want and you will get many replies. As far as recommendations, just tell them your preference on weight, shaft diameter, wrap style, and if you like solid hitting cues or low deflection, or what ever preferences you have.

Another option is to check for anyone in your area that may have some you can try to get a feel for whats out there. You may try a low deflection shaft and hate it, or you may love it. Try before you buy if possible.

Thank you all for the advice. I have made a few offers in the sale section but all were declined so far. I may have to scrape up more pennies. I have to say it was a heck of a night.

Welcome to AZ. And, welcome back to pool, we've missed you. We need to find all of our old friends who use to play.

As far as recommendations for a pool cue, I would say with your budget, its either a custom sneaky pete or what people call a production cue. You might consider a used Andy Gilbert Jump/break cue. While its a jump/break cue, they do play very well. And, you would have a versatile cue.

Joel Davidas

You may want to keep your eye out for a Joel Davidas cue. You won't believe what you get for your money. You'll get a sharp looking cue and a really good player. A friend now has several in his collection of over 175 cues. I've been able to hit some balls with the JDs and they all play very nicely. Suffice to say you'll get a lot of bang for your bucks, between $300 - $400 of them.

Good Luck
