Shirts

On shirts: I sell embroidered shirts and screen printed shirts. Here's how it should work:
1. You should decide what is your budget for purchasing shirts.
2. How much do you want to pay for each shirt?
3. How many shirts do you think you will be purchasing?
4. You get better pricing when you buy them all at one time.
5. If you embroider, the lettering needs to be AT LEAST 1/4" in height.
6. Embroidery should be small areas not emblazoned logos that are 12" in width. The more copy you have on a shirt the busier it looks. Clean and consise message is better (less copy).
7. When you purchase a shirt you should actually try one on. Different shirts fit differently (looser, tighter etc.) We probably sell 60 brands of shirts. That is they way to buy them from whomever. Decide on the brand name and model of the shirt first. Check them all out if you are particular. If you know of a particular shirt that you have seen that is embroidered look at the label and write it down (all of the info and a brief description of what the shirt looks like color buttons etc.) Most shirt manufacturers make several different "polo" or collared shirts and some of them are similar. If you can get a digital picture, EVEN better.
8. I am not set up for individual shirt orders but I can sell AZ billiards any type of shirt for very reasonable prices.

If you like a particular brand of shirt visit the supplier online to view pictures of the shirts and refer to AZers for comments. There are DOZENS of shirt suppliers that have shirts suitable for embroidery.

I don't wear many T-Shirts so I would be inclined toward an embroidered shirt, but that is where you get into trouble. What price range do you want to pay. There are double mercerized shirts out there that sell for $60-$80 at the golf pro shop and realistically you could probably expect a $10-$25 discount off of that.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me as I sometimes miss the threads and questions in them.

One other thing, you run up the embroidery charge if you embroider more than 5000-7000 stitches. They charge per location and the set ups run about $75 to $100 each as well as run charges for each shirt.

WW,
Many thanks. I believe Timberly is planning on taking care of the auction-type items.

I love the idea of shirts; but I have only a faint idea of how this cafeexpress thing really works (or of the quality of their merchandise). Also we don't really have a logo (yet). Also it didn't look like they had any real shirts (like golf-shirts) which might be more attractive for our members than the T-shirts. I would definitely prefer a high quality shirt with embroidery or permanent printing over the "stick-on" stuff on a T-shirt (if it is financially similar/feasible).

Anyway, WE NEED A LOGO. Something like "AZBilliards/onepocket.org, Room of Excellence, DCC 2007" with some sort of pool-related graphic like sticks or balls. I'll check with our local "T-shirt store" that does screen printing and embroidery to see if it's feasible. It certainly sounds like cafeexpress might be an easy way to accomplish this.

Please don't do like most places and only order Medium and Large sizes. I'm fairly big and I need a 4X. I absolutely hate to wear tight shirts. Plus they always shrink up and get too short. Just a pet peeve of mine. I'll shut up now.

At Cafepress, the polos only go to 2x, the black T's to 3x, and the white T's go up to 4x. Anything over XL costs an extra $3 wholesale. All are pre-shrunk, so they shouldn't shrink much more. ;)

If we go with JoeyA (great offer, btw, thanks!), we would need to order up front. With Cafepress, you can order 1 or 500+ anytime and each member can order individually at cost. And we can have several different styles and graphics on them. I can put them up on my premium store, so that you can have a selection of different items with different logos and graphics. But, you can't get embroidery at Cafepress, so it really comes down to a concensus of what everyone wants to do and to spend. For AZ/1P.org members, it's going to be $16.99 for a polo and as low as $8.50 for a T-shirt, no matter what the quantity at Cafepress. Like I said, we can then mark them up for DCC and take some with us to sell there if you want.

Not trying to take away from JoeyA, but it would be hard to determine the exact quantity needed upfront, especially a year ahead. But then, I always like embroidery too. We need more opinions.

No problem with taking it away from me, Linda. This order would be like pulling hen's teeth. I couldn't charge full price to AZers anyway.

Even with that said, it is unlikely to see high quality embroidered shirts for less than $30 in quantities of 24 and more.

We can embroider cheaper shirts for less money but you really need to pick a price range and then you can decide what brand and type of shirt you want and can afford. It doesn't do any good wanting a $60 shirt and only willing to spend $30.00. I would do the best I can for AZ if they go this route but someone has to spend some quality time deciding what price range you want to be in. Then, what brand and what style.

BTW, what brand of shirt and style does cafeexpress offer? Beefy T??
Thanks,
JoeyA

You can get started looking at some shirts which have the retail pricing but no embroidery at:

$30 for an embroidered shirt isn't bad. I would certainly pay that. I remember I would take a bunch of blank shirts and even jeans down to Vegas for BCA and they had a bunch of cute designs. For $5 they would embroider those pool designs on any of my own items. That was a deal!

Anyway, the shirts from Cafepress (the polo I got) is made by Anvil and it is called Cotton Deluxe. Hope that helps.
