2008 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

Hi Folks,

Pat Howey and I played this past week. Against me he had 116 and 135. Against him, I had an 87 and ( I believe) 95. Against another local player, he busted 150. Hope he posts with the correct number. He is still in Rochester for another week. Don't know if he has internet access here. Years ago, he would run 200+ on me on a regular basis.

Lyn

For the record, Pat Howey's screenname is "poolshark52", let's make sure he gets on the list.

Glad to hear you're playing well, Lyn. Will you be in Vegas?

Cool list with some truly intimidating scores on it.

I managed a 39 back in Feb. My goal is to get over 50 before summer, just need more time to practice.

Hi Steve,

I leave for Vegas tomorrow for two weeks plus. If you're referring to May, yes I'll be there for both the BCAPL and the ACS. Haven't seen you on the Joss lately. I'm trying to get to Comet Billiards for the event next month. Good luck to you and Gina. Hope to see you soon.

I played Pat Howey once in 9 ball and then talked to him after the match. I asked him his high run ever and he said 326 I think. It was definately over 320. Being a new guy to straight pool with a goal of 100 I asked him how many times he ran over 100. His reply was "ha ha" and then he walked away.

I ran a 24 last month. For me that's really great - my previous high was 17, so its a bit of an improvement. Not only that, but it was off my opponent's break, which I must say put a bit of a damper on his game with the spot I was getting.

BobJ- I'm the one in league that's just beating your run of 75 - my high run goal based on my rating at the time was 30 balls, so that puts me at 80%.

My personal goal this year is to run my age (31).

I've only played a few times but I'm hooked. My high run so far is 8. I would like to double that, but I'm more focused on bumping up my average runs.

8 - BradE, Mar

Updated the list for BradE

We are all hooked Brad!

Keep at it!

Yesterday, I ran 20 which is a new high for me. Although it was only 4 balls higher it felt great to at least get into the 20s. I got out of shape on my break ball on my 2nd full rack and left my self with a shot similar to one BlackJack posted awhile back:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=70745

I knew what i needed to do with it but ended up rattling the 5.

So tonight I ran 11, very stoked about this it was on an eight foot table with very tight pockets.

I haven't broke 40 this year, but I got my first individual Finnish Champ medal in 14.1 two weeks ago, so I'm a happy camper although I didn't play well at all. In the semifinal my opponent EC-medalist Aki Heiskanen ran 118 and 32-out so I couldn't bee too unhappy to lose that :)

What is discouraging though is that a former Finnish snooker top pro Robin Hull, who reached top 32 in world ranks and was forced to retire this year from his snooker career due to health problems picked up a house cue the other day and ran 180-something in straight pool with hardly any pool experience. Disturbing...

These guys are running centuries left and right and I'm still looking for my 1st... grrr :)

Just venting, carry on boys :)

Ran a 39 in March, two days ago. Not my highest ever, but put me up...:D
Finally found a club where I can play this game without too much distractions...

man, how could that be! It takes some years for pool pros to come close to 200, and here you go... Well done Robin. Tell him to turn to pool and try to qualify for the EC (are you going there this year btw?)

Gonna be there as a referee.

Stop the clock!!!!

I updated the list on page 1 now from all my outstanding pms. Sorry about the delay like I mentioned before in the alst 26 days I've move to London, Started a new job, and also found an apartment to buy! I will never be able to play pool (or eat for that matter) again but hey at least I can read about all the runs you guys are making!

I shall send a PM now also to get this made into a sticky

Craig, you might want to use selftaut's update as of 3/27 (on this page). I think it's the most up-to-date.

Glad to hear you have a few moments to yourself finally!
