2010 WPBA Tour Championship

Someone is doing a good job updating the brackets every hour on the hour. Thank you. Johnnyt

Go El

Congrats to my local here Eleanor Callado for winning her match 9-7 over Gerda Hoffstatter!

I believe X Pan beat Gerda 9-5 to go on to the quarter finals not the other way around. Johnnyt

PS: Very good job on the timely updates. Thank you.

Lots of surprises in this tourney. I really wish it was streaming. Mary Rankin has just advanced to the top 8 and Brittany Bryant is up 8-3 over Monica... she seems to be on a mission. While Jasmin and Kelly Fisher both fell before the final 16.

It's not same old same old that's for sure. Julie Kelly has been playing very strong lately also. I wonder if she changed something in her game or took some lessons? Johnnyt

GYK will pick up some points, maybe enough to get back to #1?

Much agreed. I was surprised by few outcomes as you mentioned above. How do you like that redraw? Sarah Rousey lost on the winner side before top 16 to Gayoung Kim, fights her way back up for the redraw and faced Gayoung again.

I was rooting for her Sarah to make the TV round, though...

You're right. Lots of surprises in the middle.

I have seen that happen a few times with the re-draw. It does suck. I was rooting for Sarah too, I always root for the underdog. I am just impressed with Miss Bryant, what is she 17? She is not just advancing but with decisive wins... 9-3 over Monica Webb is no small thing and a 9-5 over Kyoko is pretty impressive as well.
I just hope I don't jinx her. (knocking wood)

Under dog or not, Sarah always impressed me with her attitude/ ethics and likability on and off the table.

As Little Miss Bryant, who's just won her second Junior World title in Reno (Girl's div - this was her last year since she is 19), is making a bold statement that she's no little girl to WPBA veterans:wink: Way to go Brittany!

Brittany Bryant sure is shooting well this tournament. She has just beat Jennifer Chen 9-5 to advance to the semifinals of one of the most important events on the women's calendar. It looks like she will be playing Karen Corr in semi number 1 tomorrow. Great job to her!

In all fairness, Johnny posted that before Ga-Young Kim matched up with Allison Fisher. And I do love Sarah, but I think Ga-Young Kim is always a heavy favorite to win that match so perhaps compared to who Ga-Young Kim COULD have drawn, she had a bit of an easy path. I think due to the several upsets that abounded in this tournament, most of the players had somewhat smooth passages to the latter stages. I do think the best two players this particular event made it to the finals and I think the best one won. Just too many unforced errors by Karen today and it seems Xiaoting was running out anything that was left so Congratulations to her.
