Seriously, I'd say I have seen a few players take as much as five minutes on a shot where there is only one option. These players are not doing any service to our game.

That last match Souquet/Gallego took about 3 hours+.
The last rack was drama drama. Gallego hooked himself on 3 ball when he overshot after potting the 2. He hit the 3 and gave Souquet open shot into top left corner which Souquet would usually never miss. After Souquet missed, Gallego ran out. That final rack must be one of longest rack ever

Shane won the 2007 World 10-Ball Championship so you either need to include him or take See off of the list.

lol, it was the Predator WORLD 10-Ball Championship. How is not a real world championship? At any rate, none of the players listed on that list will play Shane in a long race for the cash. FACT

Well, let's be honest. The infamous or unknowns mainly to people on this forum, which, while it does have international members, primarily caters to an American crowd. The guys might be very well known in their respective countries, or play well in international tournaments that AZers don't follow.

I think Shane played well today -- 5 B&R's on 10 breaks (50%); several nice safeties, 5 missed shots in the 17 games where he went to the table (Chang had 3 B&R's), and 2 fouls on missed kicks. What, unfortunately, sticks in the memory banks is that two of the misses were an easy 8-ball and an easy 9-ball.

If Shane is a world 10-ball champ, then it's only fair to say that CW's world tournaments of 14.1 are true world championships, too. I mean, the only thing missing is that pesky endorsement.

In the span of about 15 minutes I witnessed both Hohmann and Souquet dog very makeable shots in the final rack. And Hohmann's shot was pretty darn easy. Pretty amazing, considering those two would be on my top 5 list of players least likely to choke in a crucial rack.

Absolutely right. Almost every sport benefits by some short of shot or play clock. Pool is no exception. 30 seconds is ample time, with 1 time out per rack, to play 9 or 10 ball. Some of these matches, particularly when it got tight at the end, were brutal to watch.

The Tournament Information page of the QBSF website for this event says they are using (or planned to use, when that page was written) a shot clock:

"A shot clock will be automatically introduced to each match at the half way stage, either by the time allocated for a match or by the match score, whichever occurs first. The time allowed for each shot is 40 seconds, with a warning given at 30 seconds. Each player will be allowed one extension per rack. There will be no shot clock used for the final game once a match reaches the hill-hill stage."

Has anyone seen any indication of a shot clock being used?

yes true, Those players are usually well known within their area or region. Which is great thing about such world tourneys ut brings out new talents
