I have been fortunate to attend the 14, 15, and 16 DCC events. Each of these years, I attended Saturday to Wednesday.

This year, there was an announcement that this was the largest Bank Pool Tournament ever with 501 players participating. However, in general, there seemed (to me) to be fewer people at the event than there was in 15. More discouraging to me, is that 15 seemed to have fewer people than the event in 14.

Has anyone else noticed a downward trend to DCC attendance? If this is true, the trend is ominous, especially as the hotel significantly raised their rates this year.

I attend every year from wednesday through saturday and I certainly did not see a drop off this year

Hotel/casino is in bankruptcy and will be lucky to last another year. Diamond and Co. may be forced to look elsewhere. People keep talking about the old Executive West as an option but that seems unlikely as it has changed hands and been completely overhauled. The EI East is gone as in bulldozed.

Its time to move!

New Orleans? Better weather, cheaper flights, really cheap hotels, better food, Prettier Women!

Easier access for more people?

Great seeing you at the Derby, Dave. I didn't see a drop in attendance at all.

The fields were huge, the midnight minis had full fields, the seats were all occupied and many, myself included, had to stand for some of the key matches played away from the stream table. The banks and 14.1 challenge had more participants than ever before, and one pocket and nine ball had big fields, too.

SJM,

You are right. Someone pm'd me and let me know my impressions were wrong and that the number of participants was up in every field. I am glad my sense of this was wrong.

Spoke to Greg about good turnout, he said the numbers were growing so that he might have to start limiting number of entries.

I may be reading the venue wrong. The site for the Derby says the payout is based on 400 and 400 is Max.

Does this mean that the max field is limited to 400 or that the max payout is based 400 and if there are more entries the payoff doesn't increase?

🎱

From what i seen on the ppv tv matches the crowd looked smaller. Only exception of that was at finals & ring game.
