2016 Derby City Straight Pool Challenge

Here's a bump for the ones who missed this event the first time though.
I was there in 2016. I mostly sat in the balcony, watching the 14.1, the main table down stairs, and most of the tables on the main floor.
You gave a lot of yourself to the straight pool event, Bob.

I was fortunate to be in a position to start it. The last nine years were mostly the work of Dennis and Marop.

Nah. Nobody looks at dates.

As for the record, on 4.5-inch pockets the verified record is Filler's 285 so far as I know. I think 526 and certainly 669 is safe on Diamonds.
Bob,

I believe the 14.1 event at the DCC was a bit of a thankless job for you and for others who worked on it. I would tell you and anyone else that sees this, that I miss the event. It was among my favorite things to watch at the DCC, and I am hoping that someday it will make a comeback...maybe at another venue? Also, at the risk of regretting this, I would like it to come back so much, I would volunteer to do some sort grunt work to make it happen. However, I am terrible at keeping score, and I don't have enough money to contribute to the prize fund--college under delivered for my investment.

I don't think a high run challenge is good as a stand-alone event, except for a years-long drop-in series like what Bobby is doing at Street Lights.

I think the challenge is good as a peripheral event to a major event so that top players are already there. It's better if there are lots of average players to be spectators. The SBE is a good example and a high run challenge was tried there one or two years. Another would be the CSI championships. The pros have been there the past several years for the men's 10-ball World Championships.
