2016 US Open 9 ball/ 9ft (16-22 Oct2016) Norfolk, Virginia (Winner $50K)

Alcaide makes a ball on the break and then a nice thin cut on the 1. He got off line with 4 balls left, though, and had to hit some awkward shots on the way in. 4-2.

As sloppy as Alcaide has looked, he's running out when he gets the chance.

Dennis 935
Alcaide 875 so far

Now Dennis pointing out some gaps in the rack. Hopefully David keeps his cool. He's laughing every time Dennis points out the gap.

Alcaide has an illegal break, Dennis gives it back, Alcaide has a really tough safety that doesn't work out. Then another nice run from Dennis who's batting .950.

Dennis loses the table due to another one of these "non regulation" breaks and Alcaide runs out. 5-3

I missed what happened to make Alcaide lose the table, but Dennis runs to the 6. He gets a funny bridge spot and jars it. Alcaide runs way long on his position to the other side of the table but then makes a nice bank and then a nearly full table shot on the 8 to set up the winning shot on the rack.

As scruffy as Alcaide's game has looked, he is currently outshooting Orcollo per accustats. 933 vs 915.

Alcaide has a nice runout to tie it up 5-5.

Dennis made the 1 in the side on rack 3 but had an illegal break. He left David 9 feet away from the 2 ball on the far rail and David gave it back to him. Dennis whiffed on the 2 trying to feather it and gave David BIH.

The 9 ball is blocking the 7's path down the rail, David passes up a chance to break it up but then messes up the path to the combination. After almost dogging a 4 that was practically in the jaws he played to the 7 and is forced to play a stop shot safe behind the 8 ball. Dennis makes contact and leaves David a shot on the 7, but then David under-draws to a tiny positional spot and he misses the 8.

Dennis up 3-0. Alcaide is not looking comfortable on the table.

Good job with the commentary

Shane beat Dennis in a loser's side match at 4 Bears last month.

Sorry but we do not follow kiddie bar tables :grin-square:

Alcaide dry break, Dennis makes the 1 and then plays safe to the 2.

Alcaide nearly makes a jump shot over the 7 ball which was two diamonds away but sells it out.

With the 2 ball in the jaws, Dennis makes an amazing full table positional play to get right on the rail and straight in on the 3 ball for a shot all the way down to the opposite pocket. He had about 1 diamond's worth of area to get in between the 3 and the 4 which were both on the rail. He makes a few more tricky shots look easy and runs out to go up 6-5.

The American in me roots for Shane to add another US Open title to his belt. My heart roots for Shaw who has improved his game so much from just a year ago.

My brain roots for Chang who out of everyone left (and maybe the entire tournament) has the strongest mental game.

Orcullo hasn't won the us open. I hope he adds that to his resume

I just wish Dennis will just focus on his game and being a professional. Seems like since losing his dominance has made him resort to dirty tactics including sharking...he's nowhere near Efren or Django's demeanour.

Dennis dry non regulation break.

Alcaide was in a position where he had to let the ball fly a little bit on the 1 but after some rattling around of the balls got fortunate to have a shot on the 2.

The ball rolls out a bit and he has to jack up over or cue around the 4 ball to make the 3... which he tries to power draw and misses badly.

Dennis tries to feather the 3 and leave it hidden behind the 9 but he doesn't do a good job of it.

Alcaide could have played safe but makes a nice cross rail bank into the side AND gets position on the 4. Relatively easy runout from there and we're tied again at 6.

With some exceptions when Dennis makes improbable runouts, neither of these players are particularly enjoyable to watch... they get the job done but that's about it.

Break and run (the first one?) from Alcaide to take the lead 7-6.

Sharking? More juicy details please
