I thought I'd start a thread for discussion of the Mosconi Cup points race and standings as we go through 2017. [I know -- this again already?!?]

Matchroom has announced just 3 points events so far -- Turning Stone XXVII that just ended today, Darren Appleton's first World Pool Series 8-Ball event next week, and the DCC 9-Ball event at the end of this month. But the points schedules have not yet been announced.

As near as I can tell (let me know of any errors), here are the 17 players who are eligible for Team USA and finished in the top 32 at Turning Stone. If things are done like last year, they'll all earn points.

2nd -- R. Morris
3rd -- D. Hatch
4th -- A. Kang
7th/8th -- O. Dominguez and J. Archer
9th/12th -- J. Rodriguez and J. Clowery
13th/16th -- T. D'Alfonso and N. Oliveira
17th/24th -- P. Davis, H. Lombardo, T. Zippler, and J. Sossei
25th/32nd -- B. Souvanthong, T. Antone, B. Shuff, and E. Saur

Amar Kang played for India in world cup of pool so guess hes out

No SVB, Bergman, or Sky in first two points events. Tired of jumping though hoops for points? Johnnyt

Thanks. And Amar Kang wasn't on Matchroom's points list for 2016 despite a couple of high finishes in points events. So, removing him, that leaves 16 players eligible for Team USA who earned points at TS XXVII (if Matchroom does it like last year again, which is not known yet):

2nd -- R. Morris
3rd -- D. Hatch
7th/8th -- O. Dominguez and J. Archer
9th/12th -- J. Rodriguez and J. Clowery
13th/16th -- T. D'Alfonso and N. Oliveira

Yup, the race is on again.

Congrats to all who earned Mosconi points at Turning Stone and wishing all of you good luck going forward.

Is Karen Corr eligible for points?
I think I heard somewhere she was now a US citizen. I could be wrong though.

I'm not aware of any official word yet from Matchroom Sport on what all the points events and points schedules will be. But the second event, Appleton's World Pool Series #1, is now history. Only 5 players eligible for Team USA finished in the top 32. So, if things are done like last year, these 5 will earn points:

9th/16th -- E. Strickland, B. Thorpe
17th/32nd -- J. Jones, R. Morris, B. Shuff

So Rodney Morris is certainly in the lead after two events, but we don't know the points standings yet.

The 3rd points event, DCC 9-Ball, will end in about 10 days.
