Except that an absolute SLOP shot pretty much decided it at the end. How this is not call-shot is beyond me.

I'm pretty sure it is call shot or at least was in a previous tournament. A player was shooting a ball into the side and it bobbled strangely and the cue ball hit it again and knocked it in and it did not count because there was something extra in the shot. It seemed that you only had to call the pocket but if you failed to do so and the ball went in strangely, it didn't count.
