2021 World Snooker Championship

Interesting. My memory isn't the best but wasn't he introduced by his manager? Did the guy who set up the meeting get in trouble?

something like that. the manager took him there, but higgins says he didn't know what the meeting was about. the meeting was set up by news of the world, a scandal tabloid who later got in trouble for phone tapping

higgins is usually a safe bet to go deep in the world championship but might just lose to qualifier tian pengfei this year. good play from the chinese guy

Well seeing how Gary Wilson has controlled the first session against Kyren, I don't know if I'm going to have that issue :)

i too would've lost some $ there but kyren took it in the end, he is a clutch player. his trajectory in the last couple of years speaks for itself, but he really needs to improve his long potting from here on

bingham, my other horse this year, is in a tough battle against ding right now

I might have figured it out. If I go to matchroom.live and click on Snooker, I can't get to a live stream. However, what I normally do is just type in matchroom.live in my address bar and it autofills to this URL https://matchroom.live/player/live/MF9pc3VzbTlhdg

Which then takes me to a live stream.
Thanks
The link works for me.
Ding and Bingham in a good battle now.
Mid session break final session

I think the Lisowski could be the dark horse to go deep. He's been in a few finals recently and seems to have a strong head on his shoulders. He'll need to get a bit lucky though.

if nothing else he's a huge talent (wasted talent some would say) capable of the kind of shots you only see from trump, ronnie. when he and trump were youngsters people said he would be the future champion, but it hasn't happened. maybe now is the time

i missed the decider. bingham is a heavy potter, without checking i would guess he is the player with the most maximum breaks the past three years. i like his play, long paused stroke, good at two way shots and at finding combinations/caroms in the rack. getting on in age though, so stamina and consistency may be an issue, esp since he had to qualify

I don't know who I dislike watching more, Bingham or Hawkins.
Hawkins has really struggled a bit the last few years, hasn't really gone on from his World Championship finals. Perhaps mentally that scarred him?

Bingham for me, is a much more exciting player to watch. Whilst he doesn't always find it (especially this season), his top gear is immense, he always seems to want to score big and it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up with more 147's than Hendry (will be tough to beat Ronnie given he's still playing...well if he decides to go for them anymore that is ;-)!!!

And Higgins was quick to get onboard! I watched the entire video. He was all for it!
Yes but we are told that at the hearing they saw a complete unedited recording and that evidence (which has never been made public) was enough for them to accept the tape released publicly had been heavily edited to paint that picture.

Admittedly Higgins also said that he was scared for his life and would have agreed to anything just to get out of there, which is completely believable, but then arguably contradicts the World Snooker version that the tape was doctored!

The way I see it, if Barry Hearn had no issues banning Stephen Lee (who at the time was a big name on the tour) then he would have been happy to do the same to Higgins, so in the eye's of World Snooker the decision was correct.

We will probably never get to see the unedited tape, so we'll probably never get 100% certainty!

I'm bothered by the fact that all the other people in the video were employees of the newspaper that printed the story. The video was, evidently, edited by the newspaper.

I haven't watched the entire match, but Judd doesn't seem to be playing like someone that is up 8-2

I watched the video and stand by my assertion that Higgins was 100% onboard when he was offered six figure sums to dump only one game during a match. I tend to believe my eyes and ears when video evidence is available. The fact that he was set up does not alter the position he took in regard to fixing a game or two. He didn't know who these guys were and really didn't seem to care as they dangled large sums of money under his nose. That he was only given a slap on the wrist is another entirely different issue. Had it been someone else they may not have gotten off quite so easily. His story about "being afraid" just doesn't hold water here. Rather, he seemed somewhat delighted at the prospect of making a big "under the table" score. He was more concerned with how to hide the money!

haha News of world. Love their entrapment scoops... like with Fergie. They had that Fake Sheikh guy who should win honorary Oscar for entrapping so many with his acting :ROFLMAO:

In the investigation they looked at all the raw footage instead of just the NOW story. They seemed pretty certain that it was a setup, that Higgins had no idea what was going on, and that Higgins was trying to extricate himself from a group of hard cases.

As the federation stated in their report, when you look at all the evidence, it was clear. NOW makes money by not showing all the evidence.

and it's usually a heavy scorer that wins it. the grinders in general have become fewer and less successful with the years.

but i watched the williams match yesterday, and aside from his controversial break he plays fast and aggressive. he won't show up in the statistics because when he gets 70-80 points he just smashes the red around, not caring about the century.
