2022 World Cup of Pool Draw: Thoughts and Predictions Thread

Knock on wood, but it looks like Shane and Sky have the easiest draw by far, until you realize that Switzerland didn't miss a single ball against Japan.

Saturday 18, June – Morning Session – 6:00 am EDT

Netherlands (16) vs Chinese Taipei (10)

Singapore (6) vs Finland

Saturday 18, June – Evening Session – 1:00 pm EDT

USA (2) vs Switzerland

Spain (4) vs Great Britain B

Nice comeback by Switzerland. Jungo, whose name I know but whose game I don't, is a player that I've never seen competing in the United States, but his play in the second half of that match was fantastic.

Switzerland looked pretty rough against Hungary early on.

QUARTERFINALISTS
How they stack up after first 2 rounds

Chinese Taipei leads Holland 5-3.

Meanwhile, the Ko Brothers lead the Netherlands 5-3 as well.

Races to 9 now.

A fun tournament so far and the commentary has been great with the exception of Rollie (sorry to sound harsh), who doesn't add anything and just makes me put the commentary on mute. There are better options, outside of the players there. Nick Schulman would be great, but I know he has a pretty packed schedule.
Mike Yednak's commentary is excellent. Extremely knowledgeable and presents well on the mic. Del Sim would also be a great addition.
Another possibility would be to have a coach as an option, such as Anthony Beeler, Stu Montana, etc. I think it would add a new dynamic to the presentation.
A flattering suggestion, but Matchroom's lineup of commentators is, in my view, excellent and doesn't require revision.

JJ and Karl both do a rock sold job, and Phil Yates, whose commentary voice is the best of them all, continues to improve at his craft. Even those who commentate for Matchroom only occasionally, like Kelly Fisher, Allison Fisher, Niels, Feijen, etc., continue to get better in the booth. The only true superstars of pool commentary whom I've not heard commentate for Matchroom this year are Alex Lely, who has focused on coaching in 2022 and Billy Incardona, who doesn't travel to overseas events.

Yes, Rollie has consistently dragged down the level of commentary in the event, but as I've noted, in the pre-match banter with Karl and Michael in the studio, he's holding his own.

Better to appreciate what you've got with Matchroom, which is the best commentary pool team pool in the world right now, than look for new flavors.

Phil Yates: "The Netherlands is the country famous for its hills (but it's Taipei on the hill first)"

I'd love to see Dutch hills. Provided the Netherlands is actially the lowest point of European continent (Nieder Land literally means "lower fields")

Yes, and Niels' shot on the two in the side was also a dandy in that rack. Nice runout by the Dutch.
Yes it was. I wasn't sure he had the angle to get to the side cushion and back over but he hit it great.

A great safety on the 3 by big bro Ko gives Chinese Taipei BIH and they get out to win 9-8!

A phenomenal match up to 8-8 got a little weird as the double hill rack featured numerous errors, but that wonderful safety on the three almost ensured victory for the Ko brothers and they're on to the semis. This may have been the best match of the WCOP to this point.
