Yes, he can play elsewhere….but he’s busy negotiating for his return to USA. More important to him than world pairs. The US has been the biggest reason for his success.DO can play elsewhere. He played in Gibraltar at the WPM.

this new american commentator, what accent is that? or is it a sociolect pertaining to an age group? i have heard it before, the melody and the vocal fry thing
As predictedEarly Shock Exits
Every year, there are big team(s) who are KO early by last 32 or last 16 round. This year, my guess Austria , Germany or Poland. Austria probably holds record for most first round exits in the years before Albin-Mario reign

top shelf performance from melling/majid. best so far with 100% pot success and what i believe would have been TPA 1.000
IMO it is not upset. Austria was favorite on paper but imo it was close to 50/50. Uski is so solid and calm player i was pretty sure Finland will snap match. As predicted
The Finnish finish off Austria in first upset of Round 1 so far out of 12 matches
What happened to team Philippines?
I think Melling's shot on the 1-ball in Game 3 would be considered a safety. Shaw pocketed the 1-ball on the next shot. That goes as a safety error in computing the TPA, so not a 1.000.top shelf performance from melling/majid. best so far with 100% pot success and what i believe would have been TPA 1.000
Yes, Uski was a complete unknown to most of us until you enlightened us. Well played Team Finland!IMO it is not upset. Austria was favorite on paper but imo it was close to 50/50. Uski is so solid and calm player i was pretty sure Finland will snap match.
That was my thinking, too. Melling could see some of the one ball and chose a kick safe instead and gave up a shot that was pocketed. No 1.000 here, although Imran was superhuman in this match.I think Melling's shot on the 1-ball in Game 3 would be considered a safety. Shaw pocketed the 1-ball on the next shot. I certainly wish him well, but I think his commentary is terrible,It's Rollie. His YouTube channel is pretty good and funny at times:
all my buddies did bet Finland with 3,5 odds. If I had spare to put there I definitely would put all i got. Now money is tight so no win for me but my buddies made good money. Uski is low Fargo because he only plays sometimes other countries. Now he got some sponsors and we might see him more. If I remember right he did not miss a ball last 5 matches in European 8-ball champs couple years ago when he won it.I don't like to challenge your assessment. But is 50/50 your final answer?
Fargo
Albin 819
Max Lechner 797
Mika 785
Uski 759
Albin and Mika are both at least 30 points higher than Mika and Uski. Not just peanuts 5 or 10 points
Then you look at rankings and performances in recent events
Based on Fargo, rankings, recent performances-it can't be 50/50 right? maybe 51/49 or higher right?![]()

I think, what we saw today is, that Shaw, Albin and Grabe are not real leaders when it comes to doubles play.
They put their teammates under a lot of pressure.
Not to take anything away from GB B and Finland, who played really well.
But that is why this double event is so exciting. Sometimes two players, who are on the same level can do much better than a pairing, who combines a star player with a partner, who is not so much used to the pressure and the TV lights.
