2023 World Cup of Pool (WCOP) 27June-2July, Spain (Winner $60K per team)

I had no idea there was any money in 3 cushion
PBA pays well. Played in Korea and women are popular too. I believe Semih Sayginer just won one event on PBA and got 70K EUR from win.

Here is Womens final which was 12 days ago. 411k views on Youtube and millions watch it from TV in Korea.

She plays in this final but I won´t say who won.. If someone want to see match without spoilers :D

We are down to last 8.
Kos are first favorites now with Philippines and were best performers so far beating strong teams like Netherlands and Spain.
I would also rate Austria as first favorites even though they played like amateurs in first round and have better draw playing weak teams. Albin/Mario is best WCOP team of last 10 years, they get better with every match and know how to cross the finish line. All 3 teams have 2x800s
But unfortunately all 3 are in same top half of bracket so only 1 can make it to final

China and Germany are second favorites anchored by phenoms Wu and Filler who have “single handedly” won the title with weaker Bs- Wu in 2018 and Filler in 2021. Though they now have different partners, Wu and Filler still have to deliver blowout performances nearing the finish line under immense pressure and contribute more than 50% to win this title.
Unfortunately, they are in same bottom half bracket so only one of them can get to final.

Poland, GB, Japan have to get past 2 of those 5 favorites to win title which is a long shot but again pigs might have flown before. GB and Japan suffer from error-prone weaker Bs who will have to be reliable worker bees for them to go deep . This Poland team lack experience in this event, don't seem to have coordinated strategy and look like they make it up as they go along.
The final will be Taiwan/Philippines/Austria v China/Germany.

1st favorites Taiwan, Philippines, Austria
2nd favorites China, Germany
Dark horses/Party crashers Poland, GB, Japan

that's very well analyzed, i agree. but as you say, germany with filler is always dangerous. his win two years ago was with a weaker partner than neuhausen, who was also extremely nervy. wang can hasn't impressed me, neither has team GB.

Fillipines vs Taipei starting right now. Will be Final quality play. Taipei started a bit sloppy in the first couple games against the Netherlands and then steamrolled then with 5 flawless games.

inch perfect play right off the bat from the pinoy boys. wow! 3-0, 2 BNR and counting

:ROFLMAO:Wow, Kos staging famous Ko-meback . Was 2-8 now now 7-8 in race to 9 against Philippines .
Can they Ko-mplete the Ko-meback?

philippines played almost perfect to get to 6-0. now taiwan has played equally brilliant to catch up. looking like hill-hill

Nice to begin the day with a match including four 800+ players. It was as close at is figured to be. Not owning the double hill break, Team Philippines had to sweat it, but they did well to get over the finish line against Team Chinese Taipei. Team Philippines, to me, are now the favorites to win this event.

So near yet so far- an almost great comeback. Lil Ko miss tough 2 and Philippines run out to win 9-8 to book place in semi. The match of tournament so far 👍

I agree that was a tough carom on tight pockets, and I think he hit it as good as he possibly could with maximum spin to throw it.

Shane left Sky a considerably tougher shot than he had to on the 9-ball that Sky overcut. Just a really bad showing for our supposed top 2 players. Perhaps it’s time to give some of our newer younger players a shot in these events?
We just don't have players.
Difference between svb and sky is about as big as sky ro styer.
We sent have anyone coming up that's a real phenom either.

The more pool is global....the more we are gonna be on the losers side.

Phillipines vs Ko brothers was the best set of doubles pool you could ever see.

Always enjoyed the pressure of playing doubles. Whole different feel. Not wanting to be the weakest link. Finding that symmetry. They should have a few more doubles events.

Standard of play has really gone up up in quarterfinals.
2nd quarterfinal was a polished thriller-Filler/ Germany was down 3-7 to Poland, fights back to win 9-7.

Remaining 2 quarterfinals about 1.5 hours from now

Wow, nice comeback by Germany. The play of Neuhausen was very impressive, as he not only pocketed well and played good position but played well defensively. A well-deserved win for Team Germany.
