Yes, and with the China Open, the Hanoi Open and the Reyes Cup all coming up shortly, Asia is where Fedor needs to be. Fedor can soon put an exclamation point on his record-breaking season, in which he's near certain to break $500,000 in earnings. Wish him well as he completes a year of play we will not soon forget.yes, fedor was there, supporting his fiancé. i think she finished 3rd
Very interesting stuff here. The public viewpoint of a pool coach is one we rarely encounter, but whatever one's level of play, there is much to be learned from this. Mental strength and sustenance are, indeed, key elements of success and listening to a coach marveling over the mental qualities of one of our game's greatest champions is eye-opening.Well said. This trumps all the negative comments about Joshua Filler, and I couldn't agree more. It's been challenging to read the negative comments written by some. This post below on Facebook is right on the money.

I was just reading either a thread or heard it on some old commentary that came across my youtube.......snip.... Fedor can soon put an exclamation point on his record-breaking season,....snip...
Darn maybe?I was just reading either a thread or heard it on some old commentary that came across my youtube...
There was a trifecta winner one year. World 8 ball, World 9 ball, World 14-1 winner, all in the same year. Before WPA sanctioning I suppose. Does this ring a bell? I can't remember where I heard/read it now...

I don't think anyone has won all three of these sanctioned world championships in a career, let alone a single year. Off the top of my head, several active players have won two of them (sanctioned only): SVB, Niels Feijen, Josh Filler, Wu Jiaqing, Thorsten Hohmann, and there may be others.I was just reading either a thread or heard it on some old commentary that came across my youtube...

Found it! Larry Hubbart in your old Shortstop thread someone resurrected. What do you think, is this information correct? Post #19 if the link does not work.I don't think anyone has won all three of these sanctioned world championships in a career, let alone a single year. Off the top of my head, several active players have won two of them (sanctioned only): SVB, Niels Feijen, Josh Filler, Wu Jiaqing, Thorsten Hohmann, and there may be others.
Update: A segment from Hubbart's Obituary:
Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Hubbart was one of the top professional poolplayers of his era during the late 70s and early 80s, winning numerous titles including the 1976 U.S. Open 8-Ball Championship, 1977 World 9-Ball Championship and the 1979 World 8-Ball Championship.
I looked up the World Championships for 14.1 and and the US Open 14.1 Championships (Both on wiki, and go back to the very beginning before WPA). Hubbart is not on either list. Someone did a good job on the the WC list on Wiki, showing winner, runner up, and current sanctioning body.
So it was not accurate it seems, but close![]()
Yes, he did, representing Taiwan. I remember he was on the cover of Billiards Digest that year.didn't wu jiaqing win both the world 9b and the world 8b in the same year? i think at least within a year. he was 15 or 16 y.o.
He did, or at least in the same “season”. Alcano replicated the feat winning the 9 ball title in 2006 and 8 ball title in 2007.didn't wu jiaqing win both the world 9b and the world 8b in the same year? i think at least within a year. he was 15 or 16 y.o.
