I haven't used this WST Play service yet, but it looks like it's going to be the best way for us Americans to stream the event.

it's a tradition of mine to bet on the snooker WC but with all this pool events around i haven't watched much snooker other than the masters and UK open. crazy how low odds the old boys have. higgins have won what, one tourney in 5 years? ronnie is mental, again. williams seems to play a lot of heyball these days. selby sounds like a good pick. could also be a (rare) repeat winner in kyren

I had DAZN one year when it first started and it's just too much content to keep up with. I really like how Matchroom does highlights for both snooker and pool, that allows me to pick out the few matches that I want to watch the full match for if any. I like how any snooker opportunities typically make it to their own highlight or a respot! I rarely pay for any PPV's there's just too much free content to keep up with these days and I don't want to be glued to my laptop.

ronnie o skipping big tournaments is normal
but not sheffield -if he doesn’t play there
then we know it’s the end

yea he could do that when he was 38, but it was still an incredible achievement to win that way. doing it now at 50, out of stroke/action for many months, with a new cue, against this kind of competition.. i doubt he'll even try

Ronnie O'Sullivan recently admitted that a late decision would be made on whether he would attend the World Championship or not, having been "scared" to even walk up to the snooker table.

"I’ll make a decision when I feel like I’m ready to make a decision, that will be it,” O’Sullivan told The Sun. “I know I have nothing to prove. But I was getting to the point where I was scared to even go near a table. Not even the match table, just a practice table. And that has been going on for a long time. I tried to play through it. I tried and I tried and I tried. I was getting no enjoyment out of it.

“Even that season when I won five tournaments, it was just hard. I couldn’t keep going on struggling. At some point you’ve got to try and enjoy the game. I can only enjoy it if I’m playing half decent.”

O’Sullivan confirmed that he would be making a decision on either May 17 or 18 —[I HOPE HE MEANS APRIL, BECAUSE BY MAY, TOURNAMENT WILL BE OVER] — with the competition getting underway on the 19th, and some crucial behind-closed-doors sessions are set to take place first.

I am a huge fan of all of them. Prince Naseem aka Naz, like Ronnie, made boxing fun. Photo taken in Saudi Arabia, December 2024.

Some fun info for any bettors out there. The last 10 champions all had the same things in common during the season they won.

1. They all played > 45 matches
2. They all had a win % > 60%
3. They all scored > 40 centuries (with the exception of Luca who only had 25)

So the 2025 winner will very likely be someone from this list:

The bookmakers got it right with Trump, Selby, and Kyren having the best odds, and that's probably where the sharp money will be. Murphy, Allen, and Neil are probably the best value. I'd give a slight nod to Murphy and Neil who have been in better form over their last 5 matches.

Murphy / 2-3
Neil / 3-2
Allen / 1-4

Neil and Shaun have won it before so they know what it takes to win. Selby looked awfully strong last night against Ding, but he also has been struggling with mental health lately. Snooker is a tough sport, seemingly huge prize money but you really need to perform as there are hardly any pushovers on the pro tour.

yea that last clearance was sick, and made up my mind. i'm betting on him being over the mental health hump. plus he's a crucible specialist. not my favorite player, but i don't bet on flavor.

most entertaining winner (absent ronnie) would probably be luca or williams but noone in their right mind books them

John Higgins is definitely My choice. Well tuning in when he has a 3-1 lead and playing a safety battle with Tha Anaconda is good entertainment.

Down 4-1 Selby leaves an opening and Higgins is off and running. The camera on Selby's face after his last shot showed an expression that I interpret as Tired.
