25 Advanced Game-Winning Pool Shots – BU Exam III

Could you please post the video links from where these GIFs came from? I would like to start compiling them, and it would be nice to identify the sources.
FYI, I compiled all of the shot examples in this thread in one place:

BU Exam III Advanced Shot Examples ... Real Shots in Real Games

I still need examples for:

A1 – Spot Shot From Head Rail
A2 – Spot Shot With Break Out
A6 – Straight Power Draw
A10 – Ball-First Inside Follow
A11 – Ball-First Outside Draw
A13 – Rail-First Spin across Table
A17 – One-Pocket Foot Spot Bank off Head Rail

If you have seen any of these and know where to find them, please post video links here. Thanks! I'll keep looking also.

I would like to continue to add more pro examples for all of the shots, so please keep a look out for other examples.

Thanks and enjoy,
Dave

Why did he throw his stick on the floor?
... to get the American fans fired up. It seemed to work fairly well. Too bad it couldn't make the American team play better (and Europe worse). :frown:

The Billiard University (BU) just released a third installment in the playing-ability Exam series: BU Exam III (Advanced Shots). It consists of 25 challenging and advanced pool shots that are fun to practice and can help you get out of jams and win games. Shot diagrams, instructions, and a score sheet can be found under "Exam III" here:

Billiard University Playing-Ability Exams

A video demonstration of all of the shots in the Exam is available here:

Anybody plan to try the Exam and post a video showing us how it went?

I'll try to find time in the next couple of weeks to give it a go myself.

We plan to do the next BU Exam Challenge featuring this Exam, so I'm curious to see what kind of scores we can expect.

Good luck,
Dave

I ran through the entire test with zero practice on any shot whatsoever. I scored a 30. I’ll upload the video when I have time. My gf just went nuts on me and I had to leave the house to let her cool down.
How did it go with the GF?

When you get a chance to post the video, please share the link here.

Catch you later,
Dave

FYI, I added your score to the AZB BU sticky thread.

Your 30 is the only score posted so far, so you've set the initial bar the rest of us.

How high do you think you could score after some dedicated practice with the shots?

Catch you later,
Dave

That one also covers “A26 - Throw Cue to Floor in Excitement.”

This is an even better example of the above:

Another good example of the A26 advanced "technique."

Now let's try to find some of these:

A1 – Spot Shot From Head Rail
A2 – Spot Shot With Break Out
A6 – Straight Power Draw
A10 – Ball-First Inside Follow
A11 – Ball-First Outside Draw
A13 – Rail-First Spin across Table
A17 – One-Pocket Foot Spot Bank off Head Rail

Thanks,
Dave

Not frozen to the rail, but the final spot shot of the WPS tiebreaker shootouts is close to A1.

Thanks!

I just added it to:

Examples of pros using BU Exam III advanced shots in real game-situations

Now we just need:

A2 – Spot Shot With Break Out
A6 – Straight Power Draw
A10 – Ball-First Inside Follow
A11 – Ball-First Outside Draw
A13 – Rail-First Spin across Table
A17 – One-Pocket Foot Spot Bank off Head Rail

Some of these should be easy to find, especially A6, A10, and A11. I'll keep looking.

Catch you later,
Dave

Above is the link to my youtube video. I scored a 30. The video is edited for brevity and short attention spans (mine!).

To answer Dr Dave, I believe I could score higher with dedicated practice on these shots. Specifically, the jacked up shots of the draw and masse variations. I purposely rarely practiced these in my life, and rarely even take a jump cue to the pool hall when I'm gambling.

The banana shot I just have to figure out how exactly to hit it, and I know I can score better on that. Same with a couple of the other shots, it comes down to knowing how to hit it. These are knowledge improvements, not a stroke improvement.

All that said, scoring higher on this test than my first attempt, will not show that I have improved as a player;)

Enjoy the video.
