$2500 for this GC3

Thank you to everyone who has responded to my gc3 questions. The table I'm looking at is shown in the pictures and she's asking $2500. What do you guys think of the price? Comes with cover and ball return rails. she says it comes with new green felt but I"m not sure if it can be reused. Do not know the age and she was unable to find any date codes stamped. it's a 9 footer. Comes with lots of other stuff that doesn't really matter. Cue sticks, cue rack, balls (I'm sure old or off brand)

it's 5 hours away so at least $200-$300 to get it to my house.

On second thought I'm wondering if this is a GC3. I thought GC3 only had antique bronze castings and trim. These appears to be nickel. I wonder if this is a GCIV or 2?

I really don't know what they're worth these days. I paid a grand for my 9' GC2 back in 2012. By the time I got it here and had the mechanic set it up with some new simonis 860, I had probably 1800 in it. Heck, I may have gotten hosed on mine.....but 12yrs later and lots of joy hitting balls on it, I don't really care. If you're comfortable with the total price (move & setup), it's worth it. :)
 
yeah, the owner confirmed that the corner casting and the edge trims are all silver. maybe that means it's not a GC3?
 
AS far as reusing the cloth, sometimes yes .sometimes no, depends on how they put it on. But it is very difficult sometimes to tell what the slates are like with the cloth on . I would really go over the bed thoroughly with my hands and look for damage underneath. If it's a GC3 I don't think it has pins in the slates. that's where novices screw up , they try to lift them apart and crack big hunks out of the seams. Then they usually use drylok to fix them , it doesn't work and the table is for parts imo. I would ask to take the cloth and rails off at that price. I would feel it the best I could until I was satisfied the seams and around the pocket openings were ok. the screw hole is above the head or foot spot I can't remember which but it's in a area between the spot and the short rail. in line with both spots. I'm sure the table mechanics area has better info.
 
How long you been looking? How old are you? How long are you willing to wait? What are the chances you will have to sell it one day and want to get your money back? If it is "all there" and in good condition, I would go for it, but I live in a GC desert. I am so desperate I am considering a Diamond.

Whatever you decide, be ready to not look back. As Mr, Natural says, "Keep on trucking".
 
I'm not sure of your area, but where I live, if you're willing to wait long enough, these tables come up for sale ridiculously cheap. A buddy of mine was looking for a table. It took him about 6 months, but he found a MINT GC3 for 1K. It was purchased as a home table, meticulously maintained and hardly ever used. When people need to sell them, the market is pretty small for a 9" professional table.

That tables been beat up. I'd give no more than 1,500.
I sold mine for 2,500 and it needed NOTHING, tho I totally restored it.
Slates, rails, replaced all top rail under wood (staple damage from yrs of recovering), pockets and the ball box was in near perfect shape.
I did corn blast the entire wood area then/sand/stain & clear coat it.
Me I'd only give em $1,500 MAX.

Judging by the bronze feet, Rosewood stain and clear anodized pocket castings and rail trim, I'd say that's a Gold Crown II. If the ball tray bezel is bronze, it's most definitely a II. At it stands, $2,500 is a bit steep. I'd say $1,500-$2K is about right. I'd ask for more detailed pics and ask if they have the plastic skirts. It looks like a good resto candidate.

EDIT: If you plan to change the rubber, the subrail bevel will need to be adjusted to ensure proper fit of modern K55 rubber.

Will that have to be done on a GC3 as well? How big of a job is that (meaning what will it cost me)?

An early III might. It depends on what rubber it originally came with. You have to find a mechanic familiar with the procedure. Very few know how to do it properly. I paid $1,500 to have the bevel changed, subrails extended to tighten the pockets and new rubber installed.
 
Allot of times, they just want it to leave, it's taking up space.
After seeing all those rock/roll guitars in the pics, makes me think that's why it might of been beat up.
 
its only in fair shape at best so maybe not what you want in your home.
the price is way too high for it
no way you get it 5 hours away and home for a few hundred dollars unless you do all the take apart and moving and driving alone. which you will likely ruin the table moving it.
plus another 500 minimum to have a competent person put it back together properly. probably a lt more as the cloth and possibly cushions need replacing as well.

i would not drive 5 hours even if it was free.

I bought a GC2 for $600 that was in pretty good shape. I played with it for a few years but the pockets were buckets so I went with a Diamond. Funny, I went from way too loose to way too tight. I'd rather play on tight than loose though.

Hold out and keep watching. Like many mentioned here, sooner or later you'll find someone that just needs the table gone. I'm with everyone else, 2.5K is way too much.
 
As a few members already pointed out, don't forget to add TRANSPORTATION, SET UP, NEW Simonis 860, ( New RAILS ?), (New pockets ?)
There are lots table available lately. Price depends on how badly owner wants to sell. I'd guess $500- 1,000 + EXPENSES. Look around. I'm sure you'll find something
 
In my area for $2500 it better be perfect but if your happy with it You’ll long forget about that after you install it.

I choked a little handing over the $6750 for my diamond 😂 but a year and a half later playing virtually every day and the smile I get walking out into my garage seeing it it was worth every damn cent.
