2nd Joint in cue

I recently asked a cuemaker to make a 'suitcase cue' that would break down into 3 equally long parts so I could stuff it into a suitcase for travel. He didn't think the joint by the shaft would flex enough for good play and said the second joint was problematic because it was difficult to center. What makes the second joint harder to center than the first? Is a 3 section cue that hard to make? Should I just buy a bigger suitcase? Thanks for your answers in advance, Tom

It could be done decent enough if you used G10 pins so the weight wasn't too odd. Honestly though...it may be wiser & you'd get better playability just using a cheap sneaky in a travel bag and checking it with your suitcase.
