Cue Case

That is a very good looking case and deserves a bump. I love how it has a little flash but nothing over the top. Those interiors are excellent for cue storage and safety.

I'm not a big fan of case styled this way but I actually think you did it nicely! And you actually incorporated an excellent interior.

I think the Wave interior is referring to Sterling's Wave Case collection where the interior is invented by JB.

Amazingly clean work. It's funny but no one has commented on one of the aspects of your cases which is different than most and which makes them super clean. I will wait to reveal it to see if anyone else can figure it out. And as soon as I figure out how you do it I am stealing the technique! :-)

The price on this case is stone stealing.

Thanks JB, to the front!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Band at the bottom, or strap on the back?

Well, you got me, John. And I'm staring at an old Brunswick case across the room right now... unless you're referring to the stitching perhaps. Although the Bruns case ends are stitched due to being multiple layers whereas this piece looks to be stitched for cosmetic reasons only.

Although, I will add, I just noticed that the bottom pocket appears to be zippered on both sides... kinda cool I guess. I know I have to remove my jump butt if I ever need anything else in that pocket.

It is indeed the stitching at the top and bottom caps. To do this requires that the leather is beveled at 45 degrees, glued together properly and then sewn at an angle through the two layers of leather. Once done the edges have to be properly finished otherwise the edges of the pieces will eventually fray. It is a time consuming and meticulous way to put this type of case together. It requires patience, strong fingers and careful attention to detail.

The end result is an almost seamless transition from the face of the case to the top or bottom. It's much easier to use nails the way we and a lot of other case makers do it. There are other case makers who do this technique but few are as clean as Al's in my opinion.

It's little things like this that elevate a case maker in my eyes. The way we build cases I have to keep using the nails and our nails are barbed and hold up great. The nails we use are not easily found. But I am always impressed when a case maker goes the extra mile and hand sews the 90 degree seams. Until you actually try one you can't even begin to understand how hard it is to do it right.

As I said the price Al wants here is flat out stealing if you ask me. I won't do this work for this price and my labor is much cheaper. :-)

Hey! Score one for the semi-pro :)

Although, I cannot see the top in these pics to verify the two pieces sewn together, I understand the concept of the 45+45 needlework. And although I'm sure I could get it right (after the 100th attempt), I wouldn't even want to try.

Agree on top quality work done by Al!!!

Yes, JB is right on the construction of the lid and bottom.

Thanks for the pos feed back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got it before anyone else!!

Just wanted to let other AZ'ers know that this case is top notch. I met up with Al this week and bought it on the spot.

I like his work so much that I'm having him build me another!

It definitely seems like the sky is the limit for any type of case you want constructed from Al. He can do generic or fully tooled customized work. He is great to deal with and appears to be getting his own back-log of orders so anyone on the fence, I'd make a move before there's a year plus wait.

I've seen a lot of other case's made by a variety of builder's and all I can say is Al's cases look as sturdy and strong as any of them. Plus his warranty is top's.

Well, hope this helps anyone else out there and I can't wait for case #2.

Thanks Al!

Thank you Barry, talk to you soon.
