I just want a confirmation that the pockets for 14.1 (Earl & Johnny) were really that size.

It looked to me that they were opened up. Did they take the shims out overnight?

I didn't see the first day so I have nothing to compare it to. I know they advertised the 3 7/8 inch pockets, but....

If they were 3 7/8", that was one of the greatest displays I've ever seen.

When Earl cut that table length dark (8-ball?) ball for a break shot...I thought it was going to be over. When he mis-read the "dead" one in the rack, I thought it was going to be over.

Best straight pool I've seen since years back when I would watch Mosconi, Lassiter, Crane and the boys play in Detroit.

If only DCC would allow their 8 finalists to go to 200 so hopefully we could see more of the same.
 
they were supposed to be 3 7/8 but they messed up and measured from the wrong spot
they were 4 1/2, if they were 3 7/8 there would not have been 2 rums of 135+

That's exactly the reason I didn't believe they were 3 7/8". If they were, I was betting there wouldn't be a run over 29.

Why would the 10' table/small pockets advocates want to take away the drama and ball-making ability away after seeing a match like that? I don't get it.
 
They were not 3 7/8". The table that was supposed to be used was said to be that tight but about a week before the tournament the table owner decided he wanted a $2K fee for its use. So the Gandy was pressed into service.

I think it all worked out. Especially for Straight Pool, a game that can't be played properly on pockets that tight.
