I second the bees wax. I have an unflavored bees wax chap stick in my case for that purpose alone. Works great and you don't have to put it on there very often. Just put it lightly on the metal threads and work the shaft a few times on and off the joint pin. Should seal the threads and make it easier to tighten the joint up and break it down. I've been using this for a lot of years and it always works. If it's still tight I sometimes will add a tiny bit of vaseline (petroleum jelly) and it will slick up the joint really well but I wouldn't use that without first using the bees wax to seal the threads.
