What is the most number of people you have seen playing bar table 3 ball?
What number won it?
How much were they playing for?

I've seen 8 at $20 a pop and 2 won (I figured someone would make a 1 or at least a 2 to tie him)

Can't remember how much money they won but it was hugeeeeeeee.

This was back at John Wayne's in Indy years ago.

My group just started playing this game and it's addictive--winning or loosing. It's a good way to keep everyone playing at the same time.

we used to play it all the time after league..
it's a great end of night game... we usually just chuck singles in and usually get 5-8 players going. Cheap action but always a riot. <with this action i've walked out with a 50 a few times though..> Goes fast too. 3 gets alot of pots, 2 is usually always the winner... you don't see alot of 1's. <i have made all 3 on the break once... and i practice 3 ball when i'm banging balls sometimes just for fun...>

we had 5-6 one night on a 9" gold crown, we played 2 tie,all tie and double the bet, I think we started with $5 so after a few innings it could grow fast, I remember it was the last shot if the guy didnt make 2 balls with his shot I was winning something like $750, he hit it Efrin style and made it, it was amazing but I would have perfered the $750 or something around there it was alot, anyways I went flat that night lost just under $300. Played for 4 -5 hours, its one of my favorite games

We play this after our league. Usually we have at least 10 people and we have had 18 before. We do something different though.

If a person shoots a 3, then someone ties it, everyone is eligible for the next inning. Everyone that continues has to pay the ante again.

We have had several nights where there were pots over $200. And we only have a $1 entry!

I agree, the game is a riot, especially with a bunch of drunk people thinking they can shoot pool! LOL. It is also an addicting game, especially when you see the $$$ that are to be had.

never ever heard of someone making a 1. But then again. I don't see the game played that often.

12 for 2 bucks a stick. Nothing serious, it was indeed just bartable fun.

I made them all in 1 one time playing triangle racked 3 ball. However, real men play 3 ball with in line racking. :) A 1 would be very unusual that way

Three ball is hands down the best pool game to have going at a party, everyone can play and the games go fast, the rules are also simple for everyone to understand.

We used to have a night of the week at the local watering hole dedicated entirely to three ball, I used to help run it and it was an absolute riot! The most players we've had going was 17 on one table:eek: The game didn't go so fast then LOL but the pots were pretty juicy considering we play $1 ante, we also played that if you scratch it costs a buck and if you don't rack for the incoming player it also costs you. Our biggest rule was that if two tie all tie and everybody re-antes and a new round starts, this was great for building up huge pots.

I've

seen up to 42 players at $5-7 3 ball tournaments. Shooters here had a progressive pot one time that reached $8,400, and there would be 28-36 players every night. Even if the the ACE wasn't hit, the payouts were a
$100, $50, $25, $10 every night.

Sorry Steve I meant to respond to your post earlier today but something came up;)

There are many variations to three ball but the way I've always played is to get a group of players together, as many or as little as you want. Everybody antes up a certain amount, whatever everyone agrees upon. Once this is all collected three balls are racked on the table and everybody takes a round shooting and trying to pocket the three balls in as few shots as possible.

The player that manages to pocket the balls in the fewest amount of shots wins the pot, if two players tie than everyone ties and the players re-ante and everyone shoots again. The pot can grow quite big after a couple of ties, this game is ideal if you want something that can be played by many people. Am I leaving anything out guys?

That's how I played it. We racked in a triange. I guess Steve Cook, C.M. Lee, and a few more pros that played with us weren't men:D Johnnyt

3 lined up in a row.

We had a thing going at my local poolhall. The owner had a 3 ball tourny/jackpot going. All three lined in a row, had to sink them in rotation. One tourny per night, 3 innings each. Low score, cumulative total won money for the night. Anyone who made all three on the break got the jackpot. I think it was 3 or 4 bucks per man per tourny.

First time I played in that tourny, my third inning, I made all three on the break. I won the jackpot. About $650. Still makes me laugh when I think about it.

We play it where sharking is encouraged...nah, it is expected!

At a bar with one of those super hard floors (I forget the name), the last guy shooting a round and was sure to beat the lowest score and was all lined up on an easy shot. The guy with the lowest score was screaming, sharking, making jokes, etc. to try to get him to miss. It wasn't working. As the shooter lined up his last, winning, shot, the guy with the lowest score waited until the final backstroke when he lobbed one of those big, glass ashtrays over the table and bam! it smashed into a million pieces on that floor, scaring the hell out of everybody and sending glass shreds everywhere.

Oh, the guy missed the shot. :D

The funnest game in the world is 3-ball. When will it be inserted into the BCA rulebook, I wonder?

The maximum score we play is 4. If you can't do it in 4, everyone ties and anti-up again.

It is also a good practice game for beginner players:

Rack the three balls and break from behind the headstring. After the break, take ball in hand, even if you scratch. Now try to run out. Once you can do this 70 times out of 100, move on to 4 balls and so on. It helps you see patterns and improves your play.

I've gotten 68 and 67 which was really frustrating but it really does help your game a lot.

I don't think it will be too long before I go over 70.

I got into a weird version of 3ball in a clubhouse after a golf tournament. Instead of cashing the pockets, you cashed the table, and you could stack the dollars, or spread them out, if the cueball ever came to rest on a dollar amount you had to match it before your next shot, and you could not move the money if it was in the way, just shoot through it, man I tell you... some of the guys were pretty wasted and started wadding the dollars up and sometimes you had to shoot through a bundle of cash to make the shot. I think the final pot was won with a 0 and it was $230 or so, the was a pisser because I had a 1. Oh well, it was a blast anyways..
