3 reasons why 1 Pocket is #1

close enough really is "close enough"

sometimes missing is better than making it

gives the elderly something to do

That was the case maybe 30 or 40 years ago but not today. One pocket can be played very aggressively with powerful offense and run outs. That is when the game is great to watch, not two guys who end up with all the balls up-table. Don't judge the game from what you may see in your local pool room. The pro's I can assure you don't put you to sleep.

mac: that was a joke, I've seen some good offensive 1p :P I love watching scott frost play.

Let me add:

- you get an excuse to use the 3 rail kick

- you don't need to lug around 3 or 4 cues

- an intentional foul can be a work of art and not a desperate ploy

- rattling out a ball hanging deep in the hole is a prized skill instead of a shameful f*ckup :D

It's chess on a pool table.

Efren is very "fond" of it.

Jump cues are not allowed.

One Pocket make you feel good when you are playing it and a good shooter.
I agree that it like chess on a pool table. Slow and easy shots makes a difference. Great game for old and young players.
Many Regards,
Lock N load.

It's easy to handicap as well. Makes it the best gamble game BY FAR..

My max is 20 a game... Cheap.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner!

For those of us that can't make tough shots, it's true, you do get rewarded for coming close. (And I didn't read this as a negative that 1-pocket is boring).

To add: it allows all your cue-sport knowledge to be used (ball running:14.1; shot making: 9/10-ball; banking; 3-cushion; touch; creativity) - love the game!

Because generally the better player/tactician wins. Not a breaking contest. 10/9 Ball has become 75% Break + 25% execution. The break is a weapon but not an outright killer.
