3 things you would change about pool

We can disagree without hurling insults. Let's change speed here just a little. Thank you for your cooperation.
👍
Fine, just let everyone know that because they don't like a post doesn't mean it gets banned. If their skin is that thin and they're easily butthurt maybe an OPEN forum isn't really for them. The IGNORE feature is one of THE best things about AZ, if someone dislikes a post/thread they can easily file a poster in the ignore can. Mine's up to almost double-digits. ;)

True but we're not irl. If I was a moderator here I'd warn similar people
Folks of all stripes here at AZB have been warned ad-nauseum. Somehow it never fails...they still seem surprised to catch a ban after their 15th warning.
🤪🙃

The idea is that a yellow stripe has higher contrast against a black than it does against white. On low res video the cue ball, 1 ball, and 9 ball look similar.

The background colors don’t affect game play, it just breaks tradition.

However changing primary colors wasn’t as intelligent because it would be similar to changing the color of snooker balls which are baked into the rules.
Agree. I'm familiar w the TV color arguments but still can't help but poke fun when possible. Shit disturber I. 😂

WAY MORE MONEY for the Players!!
The way to increase prize money is to increase the interest of professional pool to amateurs. When I was a golfer everybody I played with watched and talked about the golf pros. Not so with pool. I live very close to the home of the DCC. Very few of the amateurs here are even interested in the professionals. Every year I encourage locals to come out and watch. Very few do.

If anything I would say with alternate break the break is even more important, it puts you in a spot where you must have a good break so you win on all of your breaks, lose one game because you don't make a ball or foul and it becomes very hard to catch up.
Too often you will see very good pIayers lose a match only because a cue ball was kicked in on the break, or dry break.

In men's pool, I would change the way the players dress.

I'm sure that a lot of sponsorship dollars are gained from the deals made with companies like Onboard, who put out a nice product and are a positive force in the game. Right now, they dress like pro bowlers, who are similarly fighting for attention. The Hustlin' clothing brand is a good one, but does it serve the game's best interests when a player competes wearing that brand in major competition? I don't think so.

Old timers like me remember how guys like Jim Rempe and Kim Davenport dressed and how they always displayed the latest fashions. I'd like to see today's top men given a similar opportunity to express themselves through their choice of clothing.

The appearance of the players in top level competition affects the game's image. The argument that you can only shoot straight in the most informal clothing has long been disproven by the top snooker players, the straightest shooters of them all.

The women pros take their appearance more seriously, often wearing nice clothing and presenting themselves with a tasteful elegance.

1 - Make all new cloth play like broken in cloth. Very few people enjoy the first week of new cloth and it's really a different game

2 - Alternate break for everything. To come in line with all major sports, closer matches, increase fairness and to reduce overall importance of the break shot and reward overall ability more

3 - 4 inch pockets as maximum size for all professional play and 4.5 standard for amateur. Misses create pressure and excitement

Honorable mention to using chess clocks to manage match times and slow play. Ie each player starts with 30 mins and add 30 secs every time the players swap chairs. Better than a shot clock and can be run without a ref

What about your 3

No slop ever. I don't like that about 9-ball when another ball besides your target goes in and you keep playing. Also in 9-ball, count balls made instead of making the 9 wins. I've seen a dry break where there's a can't miss 1-9 combo and that wins the game? Make 8 balls in a row, leave the 9 hanging and you lose? As you can tell I'm not really a 9-ball fan.

ever take a look at Nascar driver's uniforms??? then again most pool players don't have to worry about catching fire.

Have a dress code and get the sport out of the gutter.

I understand the lack of interest by non-players, they dont see it on ESPN or the local news sports coverage, that could change if the Money was big enough to draw attention? Thats not going to increase by player participation, that comes from sponsors and there aren't any supporters at the Millions of dollars level yet.
