3 week follow up after installing Velocity Pro cloth at Pool Sharks/Vegas.

I was thinking about using a roller on the glue, but it was 3 in the morning when I was going to glue, so I just used what I had laying around. Those little spongy brushes work pretty well too, and they are cheap.

Belt sander is the best thing to come to billiards tools since the pneumatic stapler!! Can't wait for the DVDs to come out.
I just picked up 2 more 1/2" crown pneumatic staplers from Harbor Freight for $29.95 each. I like to have extra ones on hand, as I sometimes give them away to other Billiards technicians that I meet and spend time with.

Keep watching the sales, they sometimes run as low as 15.99 thats what I got mine for. I use a Co2 tank with mine, so I even have to have a compressor. I have a 35 lb tank I keep in my truck, and a little 12oz paint ball tank I have adapted to use when I don't want to lug the big one around.

I've considered that set up as well, but I use on the average of about 300 staples per table on 9ft Diamonds, and about 250 on the 7ft's, so I have a 25ft soft flex hose that works great, don't have to move the air-compressor much at all.

Hi Glen, how are you? Well, I have started purchasing tools for the buiness. So these staplers can be purchased from Harbor Freight? Never heard of that place.

You did a very good job of extending the sub-rails, as well as installing the cushion rubber. If you do this kind of work again, try using a 3" roller with a 1/4" nap...works very well, and not as messy. That belt sander is the nuts isn't it?...LOL, no technician should be without one!!! I'll be able to help you with the stappling shortly, as soon as this year is over...I'm heading to Simonis to get started with making the DVDs...anyone else waiting for me to deliver their pool tables after the first of the year, are just going to have to wait a little longer...because this project is going to get done!!!

Glen

I'm waitting for those DVD's Glen LOL, remember I am first on the list. Oh, Kiether told me to say hello to you. He said take care of me...LOL...LOL......

Harbor Freight is an tool store that sells (for the most part) cheap sometimes crappy tools, but once and a while they have a good product for a great price like these little guys.

I have been looking for a good hose to use, what brand is yours, the problem I have is the 25' coil hose I have is too coiled and not long enough and the 25' regular house seems to be too much hose.

I saw a guy with an air hose that was probably only about 3/8 an inch and looked to be clear walled, and fiber reinforced. He was running a big sander with it and said it was some sort of high flow hose, I didn't think to ask him where he got it. It was years ago. I think that would be perfect.

That 35lb tank holds LOTS of 'air' to staple with. I usually fill mine every 4 months and I use it for everything...air tools to change tires, inflating tires, blowing off slate, stapling....it works great. Even to use as a back-up might be a good way to go. Just bolt it in the back of your truck and then you have compressed air even if there is no electricity.

This is the little thing I came up with. I'm not too sure as to how long this lasts just for stapling, I have always managed to get the tanks half full after shooting some people with the paintball guns they are supposed to go to.

Lowe's sells something similar now.

I like my 'engineered' version better. But I'm biased.

Sears sells staples that fit this staple gun, they're the wide crown 1/2" staples...NOT the extra wide crown as they are 1/64" of an inch to wide to fit. And the gun will shoot the 1/4" to 1/2" staples. What I like about buying them from Sears, is that Sears can be found just about anywhere...and open weekends as well as open late. Make sure that once you purchase the gun, under pressure you pull and hold the trigger to keep the hammer extended so you can belt-sand it flush with the nose of the gun as to prevent any staples from being shot through the cloth when stapling. For the money or not, I think this is about the best 1/2" crown staple gun on the market for recovering pool tables. I can't remember how many years I've been using them now, but I've only had one that broke down, and that was because the slide broke...one of these days I'll order a new slide, but in the mean time, for the price...I'll just keep 2 or 3 on hand at all times...LOL

Glen

Stretch lines, damned that table must've lost weight!

Well, it's been about 3 weeks since I recovered the 2 Diamond 9ft ProAm's at Pool Sharks in Vegas, so I thought I'd post some pictures of the cloth install I did...before I take the cloth off and replace it with Simonis 860 Tour Blue. There's nothing wrong with the cloth that it's comming off, it's just that John is having the Mosconi Cup players at the room on the 11-12 of Dec, so they wanted to play on the Simonis 860 Tour Blue...so, here I am again recovering these tables....DAMIT!!!...LOL...kinda sorta makes me feel like I did something wrong last time...LOL

Hey Buddy! Long time

I use the .5in belt sander from harbor freight. @ 30.00 or less I keep a couple around to burn up in railwork and facings. Not as bad ass the makita but they work better than anything else I've had over the years for convenience. I played on those diamonds last month lol must've just missed you

I used to use the HF belt sander. They did a good job, but I owned 2 of them and eventually wore both of them out after only a couple years of use. Splurged for the Makita and I must say it was $$$ well spent!

Dynabrade is the name of the game in sanders.
These are Production Tools so probably more $$ than others mentioned.
Lots of options.
