314-2 Problem

Last nite the very first shot with a 314-2 the ferrule shattered. Why did this happen? It looks like they left a small gap in between the dowl and ferrule. Has this happen to anyone else

It shattered? hmmmm - I have heard of them popping off but never shattering. A while back there was a problem with the glue they were using that was causing the ferrules to come loose on the 314-2 and Z2. Never heard of one shattering though. How long have you had it? Do you break with it? What kind of shot were you shooting? Call Predator asap.

When did you purchase it. There was a recall of all 314-2 shaft mfg around Dec-Jan. for this reason. Call Predator or go to their web site and email about the problem. I'm pretty sure they will take care of it.

In my opinion, Predator is one of the very best companies of taking care of any problems. I have never had, nor heard, of any legitimate issues that they won't take care of. There is no "dowl" in the 314...not as used in other cues. As everyone knows the 314-2 is hollow and the ferrule is slipped over the end...very much like a cap on a ballpoint pen. Pred will warranty it for you...or you can have it changed to an unbreakable ferrule with a traditional dowel. There is a huge debate as to if this increases deflection or not...but I've done many for players who think not & who swear by the upgrade.

the shaft was ordered back around december last just never got used till last nite because when it got ordered and got the wrong threads. So I put it on a joss and decided it wouldn't hurt if i broke with and the thing shatterred with a med break stroke. Anyway I called predator and they are going to fix it. and send it back. I don't know if they can fix it either because the ferrule actually dug in to the shaft work and crack it a little.I'm goint to post some pics.

Definitely send it back to Predator. It is covered under warranty. They had a batch of bad ferrules that were recalled. Predator did an excellent job handling the recall; however, I'm sure there are a few shafts that were not returned. Yours is certainly one of them. Predator had us return all 314-2 and Z-2 shafts from inventory (over 200 shafts!). It was a pain in the ass as everyone can imagine; however, I give two thumbs up to Predator for handing a terrible situation extremely well!
