314, a review

If you need a refrence for who uses the shafts and who doesn't, there is a article in BD last month about New York players and their gear. All but two use our shaft, that is strong. The pros use our shaft because they want to. I am sure that that any top 40 pro could get a shaft from anyone that they wanted, and they did.

Predator shaft usage with pro's comes and goes through experimentation just like anyone else. It seems like when a pro even so much as plays with one or plays with it in a couple of tournaments, their name goes on the permanent playing list of current and ongoing users. It's bullshit. I'd say Celtic is correct in saying that it might not even be 20%.

Do you have numbers to back this up with, thats a strong accusation? I am kind of curious as to your history, are you a pro? what do you shoot with? How long have you been playing and how good of a player are you?

You Predator bashers should play Rocky some.
Looks like he's challenging you guys.
Drivermaker, get in stroke buddy. lol

I don't need a reference. The BD article last month was a very small sampling of players and the #'s were coincidental. I wouldn't have put much faith in it had it been the other way around either, too few people. To help you out, I'll even post the names here. Who cares......

Jean Balukas - Predator 9-6 / Break cue- Pete Tascarella / Tip - LePro

Tony Robles - Predator 2K-1 18.5 oz. (is he a Predator employee?)/ Break Cue- Bunjee Jumper / Tip - LePro

Tiffany Nelson - Layani 18 oz. / Break Cue - Layani w/tiger med. tip. / Tip - Tiger Sniper (playing cue)

Romona Dokovic - Schon 19 oz. / Schon & Predator shaft / Break Cue - Predator / Jump/ Break Cue - Sledgehammer / Jump Cue - Robin Dodson Frog /
Tip - Moori med.

Gina Kim-Lipsky - Schon custom 17.5 oz./ Shaft - Schon / Break Cue - Predator BK 18 oz. / Tip - Moori med.

Gerda Hofstatter - Predator P-2 w/z shaft / Tip - moori med (where has she been)?

Jenniffer Barretta - Meucci Cameo 19 oz. / Predator shaft / Break Cue - Predator BK / Jump Cue - Bunjee jumper

Steve Lipsky - Lambros Custom 20.6 oz / Shaft - Lambros/ Break Cue - Sledgehammer /
Tip - Moori soft

Kim Shaw - Paul Fanelli less than 16 oz. and 53" long / Predator shaft/
Break Cue - Paul Fanelli / Tip - Chandivert soft (nothing normal here)

Danny Barouty - Schon Custom 19 oz. / Shaft - Schon / Tip - Moori med.

That's 10 whole players and one is retired. Too small a sampling. And to show how the numbers get skewed and lies begin and end with Predator, which you're a part of, you said "ALL BUT 2 USE OUR SHAFT". Count again like Trigger used to count by tapping his hoof on the ground. It's an even split. In this case, it would be 50% but it doesn't work that way when you take in all the pro's in all the tours. When I count to 3 I'm going to snap my fingers and you'll wake up from your deep sleep through hypnosis........one.....two.......threeeeeeeee...........................

That's an accusation??? That's as good a guess as any and Celtic came up with it first and I concur. So what's 50%, the so called numbers that Predator came up with and can back up??? Let me tell you...it's a bold faced out and out scamming ass lie!!!!

Are you really that illiterate with a reading comprehension problem? I said how long I've been playing right on this thread and I've given my speed elsewhere. If you can't read, that's not my fault. I really don't give a shit how good a player you are. You can have the 8 and out on a 9 footer all day long, any day of the week. My understanding is that most of your play is on a bar box and pretty lousy at that. God only knows what it would be like without that Predator.

So what your saying is that a predator shaft makes you a better player? :p

Everybody has their likes and dislikes about equipment. So what is the big deal if I shoot with a Predator, my original Joss shaft or a 2x4? I like the action I get out of it and that is all that matters. If someone else would like to experience the same action then they have the choice to go buy one. I merely was documenting my experience.

Yes, you and I were trained by the same individual. And because I wish to try something new does not mean that I drop using Hals systems. 9/16 or an 1 1/8 is still 9/16ths or an 1 1/8 whether I am aiming at it with my joss shaft or a predator. I promise to post in six months and we will see if I still feel the same way.

No, I'm not saying that at all, it can be interpreted either way. I should have reworded it. Shudder to think someone might have gotten the wrong impression.

You might be aiming at it the same way with a Joss or a Predator but it's not going to REACT the same way. Here are your words in your opening post:
"I agree that it can take some getting used to. Most of the time I would use the backhand english method of applying spin to the cue ball the first couple of times I did that I was pushing the cueball in the direction I was spinning it".
Do you remember those words? It takes more adjusting than you realize at this point. When you get into the heat of battle, the tendency is always to revert back to what you're used to. You might find some difficulties.

All I can say is be aware of what's happening on the table and carefully watch what the balls are doing, CB and OB's. It's not the same. Is it better or worse...that's for you to decide and only time will tell. Good luck.

If naming yourself after what you like is where it's at as you have, you'll become my hero/idol and gain my full respect is you change your name to
"SNATCH". It still fits the criteria, doesn't it?

To Rocky:

Wow, that is alot of people who use the Preadator BK and shoot with something different then Predator. You really showed me.... errr oh wait, no, you didn't. That is actually what I said. The Predator BK is an awesome break cue and I will go on record saying that here. You should almost give me one, then you can put me on the list and thank me for the fact 10 people will probably buy Pred BK's since they are reading posts by a person that think Predator cues are not great shooting cues but make some of the best break cues anywhere. I know tons of people who break with predator cues and shoot with something else. This does not surprise me.

Hell Scott...I forgot about even doing it...that was funny...I feel like a shell of the man I once was when younger. Don't think I have it any more... :D

DM. Your original post is one of the funniest I've ever read. Today is definately your day to put a smile on my face.
I switched from a stiff Bender to a Predator 2 over a year ago. All I can say is, my big table game has fallen off some and I can't help but think the cue has some small part in that. The cue really is pretty darn good with the weighted bar ball though. Over a year later and I'm still trying to figure out how to hit/aim certain shots. Certainly not easy to master.
I'm pretty confused when you say "backhand english". Please give me the cliff-notes version of what this means. Thanks

Sorry dog...but it's what the man said.... :D :D

BTW...in all seriousness, backhand doesn't work for shit with a Predator. Don't even go there. You gotta go back to a regular shaft of some kind.

drivermaker said:
NO 50% of the pro's DON'T use Predator cues!!! You've fallen hook, line, and sinker for their written hyped up propaganda. Many use the break cue and there's no reason why they shouldn't since they've been given away to them, and it's a pretty decent break cue. But, THAT doesn't count toward total usage of playing cues.
If you really believe it and wish to prove otherwise, go down the list of all the biggest names in pool on all the tours and provide your OWN list and it's not even close. Let me say it again...it's not even close to 50%. I can go to their published list right now and pick out many that are on there NOT using a Predator cue or shaft for playing.

As you stated, they are pretty good for something. I'll give you 3 guesses.
HINT: (not pool related)

not saying they are good or bad but paguylyan (sp?) and basavich popped right in mind.
