314 Shaft w/broken ferrule ...

One of our local players asked me to find someone whom could/would
install a new ferrule and tip ... He didn't go into detail as to how it was
broken, so I'll let the pictures do the talking.

I'm not certain which era shaft this is and was hoping one of you could supply that information and how to go about getting it repaired.

I tried a couple of local Cuemakers but was told that Predator will only
supply ferrules to their authorized repair centers.

I suppose I should have posted this in the Ask a Cuemaker section ?

Can I tell him what kind of money he is looking at for the repair ?

I met David and his wife at the VNEA State Championships in Myrtle Beach SC. He does excellent work and I believe he is a certified Predator repairman. I sent my Joss to Muellers (Ryan aka. Ratcues) and he did an awesome job, I would definitely send my Predator to one of these guys. I have heard great things about Mike Webb also...good luck...Ron

Does predator use a special ferrule? I know the shaft is different , but I thought the ferrule was just a regular one.

Very soft, thin and light.

having work done is rediculous...predator warranties everything that is not user error and they usually dont care if it is user error or not. I have walked in with a friend with a broke 314-2 shaft. he looked at it made a face like he was happy to see that it could be broke and handed him a brand new one in a cool black sleeve. then gave us a tour of the shop. At that time they were only making the p2 and everthing else was made overseas but i got to try the new predator air before it came out. I asked him why there was a glossy finish on it and said that it was harder to stoke with the gloss.

meanwhile they released it with the glossy finish and i got one. then the glossy stuff chipped off too easy and they went to the flat black that they are being produced with now. I still have my chipped glossy but i love it. im sure they would happily warranty that too but there customer service is amazing.

Predator stands behind their products. My first 314-2 was ever so slightly misaligned. It was not off by enough to effect play, but was driving me crazy. I sent it in to them, and in no time had the shaft back with a new ferrule and a nice note apologizing for the inconvenience. Good stuff in my mind.

I had a ferrule melted by a guy replacing my tip. He put on a new ferrule, but it played like garbage afterwards. So he sent it to predator, they couldn't fix it, and offered to sell him a new shaft for the dealer price, or something like that.

Pretty generous, considering he messed it up, voided the warranty and all that.

Str8PoolPlayer, I couldn't look at your pics, they were password protected.

Same thing happened to mine. The ferrule broke.

I had it sent to Ryan Theewen in Mueller. His handle here is Ratscue. He is also an authorized repair guy for predator.

I sent him both my shaft, the one that broke and the other also to change just in case as i heard some unfavorable things about those 314-2 ferrules.

My opinion is that Ryan did a great job. Both shafts had the ferrules replace and the work was clean. I doubt anyone would be able to do a better job at it. I feel better sending it to the right people to get a job done right.

Just send the shaft back to predator. They will fix it free of charge (minus shipping)!

I could not do that with mine because mine was made from partial pred blanks with custom ring work and no logo. I heard they will not honor warranty for those.

That is correct. No Logo - No Warranty.
It has nothing to do with the shaft being made from partial or that you had custom ring-work. It's about the logo.
