Things are looking really good on this side.

Mike and Eric has been working hard everyday here at Carom Cafe. With Miguel Torres as their head coach, they are getting pretty consistant with some tough shots.

For the first time ever in history, 3Cushion Billiards will be aired on ESPN!!

Semih Sayginer will be making USA national TV debut on ESPN at the US Pro Tour CHampionship in Los Angeles on April 1,2007. This carom show will take place before the men's TV rounds.

Sayginer is a world class player as well as a genius at creating impossible looking caroms. They call him "The Magic".

This will be made into two 30 min shows on ESPN.

Ira Lee will be working with Dragon Promotions as co-producer of this carom TV show. Ira is also the promoter of the Sang Lee Memorial event in NYC and has been a true gentleman and supporter of carom billiards for many years and is well respected in the sport.

It has been his dream to see carom hit main stream audiences in USA, and this is 3Cushion's chance. For those who share his dream and vision, please contact him.

This event needs alot of financial support from the carom community so please anyone interested in sponsoring or being a patron supporter of this important step for 3Cushion contact Ira Lee at iralee3c@gmail.com

I am new to 3 cushion but want to learn it. I love 14.1 and I just wanted to thank you for what you have been doing to promote 14.1 and now carom billiards. You seem to be making quite an impact on the billiards world.

I'm not a naysayer; I'm a truth-sayer. Call it what you like, but don't call it three-cushion billiards, because it's not. We'll have to wait and see about the props, gadgets, and gimmicks. My guess is that the table will be littered with Coke bottles, penny wrappers, and extra cue sticks.

Mark your attitude about this is absolutely moronic. Billiards has not been in front of the public eye in God knows when. Any exposure is a good thing for the billiard world.

I don't see that I've done anything that warrants name-calling. The Original Poster wrote: "For the first time ever in history, 3Cushion Billiards will be aired on ESPN!!" Either the OP doesn't know the difference between 3Cushion and trick shots, or he assumed that no-one on this forum knows the difference, or he was intentionally dissembling.

Suppose someone posted a message with the title "One-pocket on ESPN." Then over the next few posts it was revealed that the competitors were not Efren, or Shannon, or Cliff, but Stefano Pelinga and Tom Rossman. I think more than a few one-pocket fans would feel cheated.

What is being proposed is not 3Cushion Billiards any more than Trick Shot Magic is one-pocket.

Hi Eric:

I have selected the best snapshots and uploaded here
http://pl.cuetable.com/showthread.php?t=577

Aside from the pro footage we shot, I also have some videos from my $200 digital camera (low res home video style), can your mailbox take large size attachments?

Nice to see you here and I will always remember the $65 and $400 dollar cab rides...

Wei, nice pictures as alway. Will you be putting those videos on your site , so other can watch some of the training Eric and Mike are doing. I wonder how many Az'er watching http://caromtv.com/ web cam to see some practice. I believe Massey was on Table #1 last night at Carom Cafe.

Great pictures! And yes, my email (gmail) should accept large video attachments. If not, I guess we'll find out.

I got about 10 hours of video to edit but I'm not putting it on my website until after the ESPN show airs (professional courtesy, we'll call it).

-yow!

Mike can actually play a little, he lost to Ira by 1 pt playing to 25, lots of 4's and 5's (using my cue :p ).

According to Ira, Mike is the fastest learning player he has seen. With poolplayer precision, great rail knowledge/cueball action, the willingness to learn and a monster stroke to top, Mikee has a great potential to be very good.

The next day, Mike played with a Diekman magik wandzzz to play Ira again. In the last game the score was 25-17 in 24 innings. He ran a 6 and a 4! He basically averaged .700, and pushed Ira to play over 1.000.

This is amazing for someone who played very few games of 3 cushion in his life.

Or you're an ass. Each shot they shoot on TV will involve a legal hit, the CB will hit both objects balls, hitting at least three cushions before the second object ball. Therefore each shot will be a three-cushion billard, and there will be three-cushion billiards shown on TV.

But that's not the point at all, the point is that you're harassing a billiards professional (albeit artistic billiards) who comes on this board to tell us things and discuss things with us, over his wording.

You remind me an awful lot of this guy. Got any opinions on Zen?

-Andrew

Wow, someone expresses their true feelings, and all hell breaks loose. You guys are both right. YES this is great for pool, idiots love watching the ball dance around the table, might inspire some ppl to take up the sport. But stand back and look at it from a big billiards fan, this won't be true 3 cushion billiards, with 3 cushion strategy, defense, etc. But this should make good TV. Same reason 9-ball is more popular on tv than straight pool. FUN and EXCITING stuff for those boring days at home. And how many of us hate when ur digital cable says POOL, and info says Trick Shot Magic.

I'm a straight pool fan, and I'd be upset if they announced a straight pool airing where the promo video showed massey shooting some 10 ball trick shot, and adding 10 points to his score, and reracking another trick shot. But all's good when balls are bounced around on a green felt table, so let's all just watch and make fun of it as needed.

I think Earl should play, I'd love to see his reactions when his shots don't go the way he planned. :)

Thank you for your kind words.

Contrary to what you and others have posted here, ESPN will NOT be televising three-cushion billiards. Two of the participants freely admit that they don't even play three-cushion billiards. Semih Sayginer is a world-class three-cushion player, but he will NOT be playing three-cushion billiards on ESPN.

Yours truly,

Mark

Mark, you are right. Because in Europe its call Artistique Billard. But I quess like everyone who cannot attend, we will just have to wait until ESPN televised this event. Then we can criticize. But it is a major break for 3 Cushion Billiard. I hope both Charlie Williams and Ira Lee all the lucky with this Exhibited!

We should really take a different look on players in Artistic Billiard ( call it Trick Shot if you like). They deserve some respect.

They are in a different class from the from club comedians or circus clowns ( no disrespect to them either). It is very easy for us to overlook their hard work behind: one shot built on another, one try went after the next, all by oneself. When meeting others, they kindly share knowledge. When people ask, they answer. At the end, they succeed by showing wonders and laughters. Forget about cue and cushions for now, in my opinion they are angles to our sport. I am lucky and feel honored to have a chance to spend this past week with two of the best in this country.

Honestly I haven't play Eric in any games. He didn't come to New York to play; he came for a serious training session in preparation for Semih. I could see he learned the cue ball well and he was born with a great heart to stand in the strong wind.

Now about Mr. Massey: If you ever see him, you have to give him a hug. He is a decent human being with a wonderful soul. Never relate him only to finger pool and massé shots. He is actually pretty good in both one pocket and straight pool. Maybe someone here can help verify on this. Also, he shot a 0.7 average playing a 25 pt 3C game with Ira Lee this past Sunday. Very impressive for someone who haven't played much.

About ESPN: You might be right that it will take a while before ESPN will put a regular 3 cushion game onto TV. No one is to be blamed here; there just are not enough audience today to cover the cost. However the competition will take place on a standard Gabriels billiard table and all shots has to be a legal 3 cushion hit.

Be positive and look on the bright side, this is already a break-through for many people. I am helping Ira on a small part and will let you guys know more when the date comes close.

Well spoken/written, Wei!!!!!!!!! Be waiting for added info. VCR ready to tape when the event happen!

damn I missed it, they have 2006 Men's Trick Shot Magic on ESPN2 now....
