bbb...stop wasting your time plaing pool... Dont you feel bore of pocketing those balls again and again... Because man im telling you its as boring as hell..

For just five years of playing three cushion billiards, you'll gain a knowledge in billiards as much as a pro pool player learn in his entire career.

4-rail, 5-rail shots

bbb,

Yes, there are definitely 4-rail systems, however personally I don't have one and I stink at 4 rail shots going into the end rail (short rail) first. If that's what you are referring to, then there are others who have a system. I'll try to fins someone who can help. The only thing I know about that system is this: If you aim for the 1st diamond from the corner as in the diagrams (cue ball is white) with high maximum English, the cue ball returns to the diamond you are shooting from assuming that the table is playing "true". If it plays shorter, than you will see the difference and if it plays very slippery, you will see the difference and hopefully account for it.

Here are some basic banks and the cue ball paths. The two 3-rail shots I am showing you are my little secret shots that I love to pull off in a match.

4-rail, 5-rail shots

I can't possible show you every combination of 5-rail shots, etc. I use the corner 5 system and memorize the cue ball paths.

bbb,

FYI, remember that all those paths change depending on the way that the table is playing at the time. Knowing what the balls are gonna do based on the playing condition is one of the keys to success. It takes time and experience.

Larry,

The only 4 rail system/guideline I know, other than extensions to 3 rail systems, is shooting into the end rail off a ball in the middle of the table with maximum english, when entering the end rail at a right angle (middle of the rail) it tends to go 4 rails around the table into the corner. Moving that 90 degree angle line up or down a diamond moves the corresponding hit point a similar amount if I remember correctly. These can serve as good guidelines for those end rail first 4-railers, and you can alter with hit and spin as needed.

For 5 rails, most common guideline is shooting corner to opposite diagonal corner, that tends to go 5 rails to the corner, depending on the table, with normal running english. You can match up the diamonds, so to speak, to achieve the same result. So from 1 diamond away on the end rail, you shoot into 1 diamond up from the corner. Middle to 2 diamonds up, and so on. Likewise, you can aim 1 diamond up or down from the normal position to come up slightly shorter or longer.

Hope this makes sense. Some of the more experienced guys on here may know more, but really as I think about it most of the systems I know are geared around 3 rail variations - running, dead ball, short, etc. - when shooting 4, 5, or more rails you just tend to extend the lines and learn where those are through experience.
