FYI, I just posted a new video that poses a 45 Ball Run-Out Challenge for excellent practice with smart pattern-play, shot making, combos, kisses, caroms, and break-out shots. I also show an example runout with instructional commentary. Accept the challenge and post a video showing us your runout:

Content:
0:00 - Intro
0:40 - Run Out
---- 1:12 - 6-ball combo
---- 2:23 - stun-forward tweener shot
---- 3:00 - good controlled follow break-out
---- 4:01 - draw into a cluster
---- 4:42 - behind-the-back break out
---- 5:15 - combo with nice CB and OB control
---- 7:15 - simple final pattern
7:27 - Wrap Up

Here's an attempt at a 55-Ball break & run:

Contents:
0:00 - Intro
0:36 - Runout
---- 2:17 - 4-ball combo with “furniture rearrange”
---- 4:06 - 4-ball combo in side
---- 4:32 - double-cluster break-out
---- 4:57 - another double-cluster break-out
---- 5:33 - short-side shape
---- 6:13 - final break-out
7:23 - Wrap Up

Here's a 36-ball break & run on a "bar box:"

Contents:

0:50 - combo with break-out
1:26 - kiss shot with break-out
2:21 - spin-induced throw into a big pocket
3:02 - follow carom break-out

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.

Enjoy!

This is out of line but. Everytime I hear Dave's commentary I picture him on a date asking in his monotone A.I. voice
"come with me back to my place so I can show you how to properly implement S.A.W.S to get my ball in your pocket"

Lol

My wife likes my sexy android voice. :geek:

And, interestingly, she came up with the SAWS acronym for me. I gave here a bunch of words to work with (aiming, system, sidespin, alignment, squirt, swerve, throw, deflection, etc.) and she came up with the brilliant winner. She also helped me come up with the circular-saw 8-ball icon (there are two of them since "saws" is plural):

We had a 45 ball rack

Was tons of fun trying to run out. We had a pot going...winner take all.

That does sound like fun, assuming you and the others have lots of time available to watch and take attempts.

It was actually a little easier than I thought it might be, or maybe I just got a little lucky.

It is not often that you can play the 7-ball in order to get position on the other 7-ball, setting up another shot on the 7-ball......

That's part of the fun. When you try it, maybe you can leave the three 8s for last for a little extra challenge. :geek:

I used to see Marco Marquez practicing 30-ball banks at Chris's here in Chicago - he didn't run out much even though he played with 2 cue balls so he had a choice each shot.

A nice drill Doc! I guess I need to go buy another set of balls. I can hear the wife already, “Why do you need another set of balls?” I’ll just sho her your video and tell her the game has changed…inflation!

I racked up 45 balls on my table a few years ago, the break was so horrible that I think I gave up after a few balls. If you were playing Fargo you had an incredible score for 1 game.
