Steve - I kind of like the ball below the break ball for a key ball. If you can get the cue ball more or less parallel to the foot rail vs the key ball (and a foot or 1.5 feet away), and put a bit of left spin on the shot, it looks like a more forgiving position play than using one of the balls to the left and presumably coming off the left long rail for position on the break ball.

What do you think?

Well i really had to think LONG and hard about this, yes the ball underneath the break ball close to the rail serve as good key balls, going 1 rail out for the break. the only problem with these is speed. hitting too soft or hard might not get you in optimal position for the breakball.

in the layout dennis had here, the ball closer to the Side Pocket served as the best keyball because it would have landed dennis perfect for the breakball.

we all hope for stop shot end patterns, but as we all know these dont happen all that often. just shows you that the end pattern is not just the last 3 balls, its getting in better line well before that to make these easy end patterns happen.

sorry for the delay :embarrassed2:

I agree. I just didn't see that ball in your photo due to Dennis' hand and that white triangle.

Thanks.
