48 hour bump rule

So, many of you guys are just ignoring the 48 hour bump rule. Honestly, it's really starting to piss me off. Are you really that stupid or do you just not give a $hit? And don't try to play ignorant. EVERYONE knows about the rules by now. Just in case, here is a link to the rules that apply to the for sale section:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=264464

Why not have some courtesy for the other members? Oh yeah, thats right..... it wouldn't suit YOUR needs. This is THE problem with the world today. No one gives a $hit about anyone but themselves. Maybe if you started caring about your fellow man, this world would be a better place.

I know this may anger the mods, but please either start enforcing the rules or just remove them and we can go back to a free for all with everyone bumping threads anytime they feel like it.

While I in no way advocate breaking the rules is this really such a big deal?

Overbumping threads isn't really the end of the world. Report the post and move on with your life.

Also, I have seen some posts deleted in the last few days where over-bumping occurred so clearly the mods are working on it.

48 hours

I started reporting all the rule breaking posts for a time period but it was too much work. Ill bet 80% of the posts during that time were incorrect.

Also we know the cues play great so stop bumping for your friends.

You have to be in the klick to have free bumps. I get nasty pm's from the modds all the time about 48 hr rule. I don't even post anymore cause if you post in the morning you'll be on page 4 or5 by noon.

And what's for Sale here? Also a rule....have something for sale in the FOR SALE section:eek::thumbup:

I think they should lock a thread that can only be updated by the OP.

No more.. wish I had that cue - great cue - if that cue was .005 oz lighter I'd buy it - saw this cue yesterday, great cue - nice cue - etc.. etc.. we know the cue is nice, if you like it send a PM.

They should figure out a way to only allow the OP to reply to the thread (and only allow it to happen every 48 hours).

Or, maybe do it the same way they do it on craigslist, where they only allow to bump your post to the top every 2 or 3 days.

I do not think that anyone (other then the OP) should be allowed to bump the post just by replying to the thread.

People should only be able to send a PM to the OP, and not be able to reply in the For Sale section.

Or maybe the software guys can think of a way to allow replies, but make it to where the thread can only get bumped to the top after it has been at least 48 hours (from the time of posting the thread).

Not sure if that it possible, but it is just a thought.

It's possible. And is the best solution. Make a separate "bump" button, which can only be used by the OP. Other replies/comments won't bump the thread up. Simple as that.

JustinB is 100 percent correct. This is really the only solution. It will always be a "problem" until it is addressed by the powers that be. I don't really have a dog in the race but I have worked with people enough to know that it will not just correct itself with a post by someone saying it makes them angry. It may get better for a few days or a week, but that's about it.

It should be a wanted forsale section with the 48 hour rule enforced.
can AZ have a auction section?

How about the sellers that post 10 or more threads at one time.Geez,it pushes half of the other sellers off of the page. Can't the threads be consolidated?I see a lot of good sellers that list multiple items at one time and they place numbered pool balls at the base of the item to easily identify them.Or,left to right, etc.Let's try and be considerate of other members. When I see some ppl "hogging" the F/S section,I won't buy from them even on a good deal, because it gives me the impression that they have no respect for the other members and may be, shall we say "over describing" their items? Lock the threads with a "bump" button that can only be used by the OP every 48 hrs.All comments and questions, should be by PM or email. Also have all newbies read and agree to the rules for this section, and sign off on it.I know a lot will just scroll to the bottom and check,"I agree" but some may actually read the rules. Also,to the members that call others members forum cops,if we don't offer a polite heads up,it will continue as it is.The Mods can't do it all.And since "feeler" threads aren't allowed they should be taken down or moved to the main,or discussion forum.Find out what it is worth first and then post it here with, pics, specs and prices.I don't like having to email for pics, etc.Just my 2 cents, and I am sorry that I even have to post this in this section, but I hope it helps every one.

I agree I list multiple items a day but I try to spread them out every few hours so I don't hog up all the space at onetime. 48hr bump rule needs a button only used by OP. but we can't enforce some rules without others as well big problem I see on here is people making bad comments about persons price etc.. In the sellers thread. Basically downing seller saying he is overcharging. I hate that who's business is it on what they charge if ur not interested keep comments to yourself or pm them to seller don't comment in his thread taking it to top with insults. I personally haven't had that problem but seen a lot of it lately. Then seems like when one person makes comment like that gets to be argument right on the thread which constantly bumps the thread everybody has to put their 2 cents worth in it seems at that point.

This is the way the watch forums operate the FS forums. They use the same program that AZ is using so I'm sure it's an option and could be easily done by the moderators.

Guilty.

I admit that I've bent the rules at times regarding the 48 hour rule and posting comments on other people's for sale threads.

I've toned it down considerably as of late and will continue to police myself.

It's started to get out of hand. The same members regularly post comments in others' threads. "Nice cue", "Wish I had cash for this", and "Won't last long at this price!" seem to pop up constantly.

Really...would you buy the cue if you had the funds?

If you watch closely, it's the same people making comments and bumping each other's threads. There's a few that would own about 100 of each other's cues if they followed through on every "pm sent" bump.

Start toning it down folks. You know who you are. I admitted to doing it at times, you can do the same.

Everyone is trying to buy an sell cues here, this isn't your personal showcase.

Regards,
Mike

You got it my friend. Everyone seems to only obey the rules that don't interfere with there needs. Been driving lately? Anything goes on the roads now.

Why don't they just have a "store" for members only where people can create a listing for their product..

Would eliminate bumping as its just a store with a search function..

It would create all the other issues with people tagging items with 654 tags unrelated just to get views.. Maybe limit to two tags per item..

48 hour bump

One of the outdoors forums I'm on occassionally had major problems so they changed the whole for sale section. Now, you list one time and no bumping. Your ad stays active for 30 days. You pay $1 per ad. The small amount forces people to list multiple items in one ad instead of several different ads clogging the whole page. After 30 days, you can relist for another $1.

I think it works well and would be a ton easier to monitor for the moderators. I can't imagine what they must get each day here with this site. When you log back in, you still see the new ads bolded and can scroll down to make sure you haven't missed anything but you won't see the same twice in a 30 day time period unless you look it up.

Ultimately in this format it won't ever change until the members here make a conscious effort not to ignore the rules. We can't leave it on the mods. As my old man always said, son you know how to act. You don't need anyone to tell you not to act like an idiot.....

The big problem with forums that don't allow for sale threads to be bumped is that price changes don't bring things back to the top. Generally, these forums usually allow you to relist every x days where x is typically between 7 and 30 depending on the specific forum. Honestly, I would prefer to see a thread over bumped than re-listed.

Also, why do people want for sale threads consolidated? As a buyer, I vastly prefer a thread titled "Scruggs bacote and ebony no wrap" to one titled "Scruggs, Lambros, Gracio and some cases" or worse "Cues for sale". In the first case, the title tells me whether I need to click on it or not. In the second I have to click on it whenever it comes up to find out what is inside it.

I bump my thread last night around7:00 pm, Barking4action asked me a question an 1/2 hour later, I replied.

2 hours later my entire thread was DELETED, I was not ware of the NEW so called rule about NOT even being able to reply to a question! I think it's completely ridiculous!

When I PM'd a moderator to explain what had happened, they replied , We're at the US Open, and they did NOT DELETE my thread, is there a magician in the house! Whatever, it's gone!

Very confused;

I think everyone is overreacting a bit. There are questions that need to be asked and many people don't respond to pm's. People want to interact and give their opinions. Is it really that serious? I mean it is a community and sometimes people want to compliment other people's goods. Just my opinion though. I'm sure I'll probably get flamed now.
