Here is another cue almost ready to hit some balls. I was not happy with the finish on the butt sleeve so it has been sanded down and needs to get hit a couple more times with clear. Hope everyone likes. Any and all opinions are welcome

Love the long points, and rings! If that's your 4th cue ever it's impressive in pictures for sure! I like the veneer colors too:thumbup:

nice cue, use some metal polish on that joint while buffing it and those slight sanding marks will disapear and the joint will look like glass.

great job!

my opinion from what i see
is that this is what a pool cue oughta look like

i hope you have a big future making these

Thanks Trent with the dissatisfaction with the butt sleeve I held off on a final sand and buff of the forearm that's why there are still some tooling marks on the joint. It will all be rectified shortly

Beautiful cue in progress. What is the price when finished-you can pm me the details. Thank you!

As the time approaches for a decision I'm undecided about what type of wrap to put on this cue. I'm torn between a white with green spec linen, a plain black leather or maybe a nice lizard wrap. Anybody out there in Az land have any opinions?

Completely my personal opinion, but when I look at cues, I look for uniformity with the design. Your rings contain yellow and the outer veneer is yellow. I don't think the white with green spec would go as well as your other choices. In my opinion, if it's going to be linen (which I don't care for on my cues), I would go with black with white spec, that way it further accentuates the sleeve and inlays in the sleeve...

I can't wait to see the finished cue!!!

Yes I have the great fortune to utilize the expertise and tooling of the Broos shop the same as xpat. Even better for me though is I don't have to work for him. Lol Alrhough as he is my best friend I'm not sure I'm any further ahead either. Hahaha. Don is good people believe me on that one.

let me know when you have a Amboyna Burl Cue ready:wub::lovies::love::help:
Ralf

Hahaha yes Ralph we are all aware of your weakness. As I mentioned I build my cues as a hobby (between paying the bills as a working stiff like everyone else) in my best friends shop who now concentrates on tables instead. Tons of fantastic wood, all the right equipment and all it requires is helping move or install the occasional table and buying my own pins etc. What a deal right?? The only prob is no matter how many tables I move nor how fantastic a friend I obviously am the only wood I'm not allowed to put my hands on is the 7 or 8 squares of the best amboyna I've personally ever seen. Talk about selfish huh?? Lol. I've got a couple pieces myself but they're gonna need to season for a year or so at least before I try to use them. I'll put you on the top of that waiting list though. Cheers

Gotta be nice to have access to a full shop without the expense. Good way to find out if you enjoy cuemaking or not. I had one deal with Don years ago; no complaints here.

Keep up the good work,
~Beau

I don't know about no expense I've helped him move locations three times and that includes 6 lathes along with all the wood over 150 slates from his table business and countless other inventory not to mention moving and installing countless tables together. It is a good arrangement for both of us. A strong back whenever he needs one and in return tutelage for me and an open licence to play. It's what friends do. I only hope he catches the bug again someday as well.

Saaweeeeeeeeeeeet

As for my opinion on a wrap:::glossy black lizard print leather would look good on it

Agreed on the leather. Everyone has convinced me. I know this is a pic of a different cue I'm working on but I think this is the wrap I'm gonna go with.
