Happy Birthday Team America
72 days without a drop of rain. High mountains of Colorado.
Growing up in Eastern Nebraska, fireworks were a huge thing. So many good times that I remember fondly.
With the lack of rain and many fires surrounding me I really don't think fireworks would be a good idea.

Probably spend the day hitting balls, no sparks!

I will show my age.
Black Cats
Lady Fingers
Black Snakes
Cherry Bombs
M-80's
All sorts of bottle rockets

And Punks for lighting fuses.

Hope everyone gets to play a little and has a great holiday.

Good memories!! All those blistered fingers!! 😂

Being a good Montanan we'd either go to a Veterans group BBQ and picnic up in the Mt side of the Big Horn Mtns , or a rodeo which was either all local contestants a Ranch Rodeo if you will or drive to Red Lodge for the parade then the Rodeo and fireworks afterwards .

Then i quit drinking adult beverages so I'd go up to A out of the way spot up in the Beartooth mtns for fishing and relaxing then watch fireworks from different ranches , and towns from the side of the mtns while sitting on a jeep trail ! A slice of heaven in my way of thinking !

Now days I stay at home where we BBQ , play various games and watch grandkids run and play to burn off some extra energy before it's dark enough to light fireworks .

Personally I'd like to be in the Washington DC area to watch the fireworks from a distance , yes I'm sure there's going to be plenty of videos floating around to watch it . Then I don't have to deal with the crowds ha ha .

Happy Independence Day and here's to the next 250 years !

I think watching fireworks from the side of a mountain would be far better than being in DC.

I totally agree with you the biggest difference between the two is out on the mountain side there weren't anyone else around with a hour or two worth of fireworks being lit , where in DC it would be a million people for a lot of fireworks being lit !

I've already seen the Thunderbird's a couple years ago which was a very special memory for me !

Happy Birthday, America!

Be safe with all those fires up there.

I’m mildly concerned we might get some where I am because of this heat wave a very sparse at best rain lately. Had a major drought earlier in the year until early June. I think we went something like 100 days with 0 rain but maybe I’m a little off on that.
Got almost an inch of rain today!

It just started raining here we darn sure need the moisture !

No new fires in our area due to fireworks, so that's good.
Driest I have ever seen and I have lived here since 78.
This coming after the driest winter in history for the area.
Come on Monsoons.

Glad you got some rain.
The way the thunder & lightning was rolling it will be a miracle if a fire didn't get started !

I've been watching different Rodeos here in the US as well as in Canada both Canadian rodeos had muddy conditions , as did Cody Wyoming .
I spoke a bit ago with a friend near Riverton and it's awful dry there , there isn't any rhyme or reason to the weather !

I don't often see two dry winters in succession, so this winter could be a doozy.

I know, crap in one hand and wish in the other.
See which one weighs the most. :geek:

I remember back in 2017 by the end of December we had received over 180" of snow , we also had winds over 70 mph which drifted in every coulee and many narrow valleys as well as some that weren't so narrow !

I've not ridden my snowmobile in 3 years mainly as I don't like riding alone in case if something breaks to save me a long walk out in deep snow , yes I've done it a time or two over the years it's not as much fun as it could be .

It seems that when we do get some nice moisture it suddenly stops , the grass grows like crazy then dry lightning strikes happen one of the last fires like that burned up more than 400,000 acres wiping out houses , out buildings and livestock , and hay yards some families just bought their kids school supplies and new cloths ..... That all was burned up in the Lone Tree Complex Fire .

The majority of the timber that burned up will never return as this is truly high alpine desert and once those fires get into the deep breaks you can't get in there to fight it dipper or skimmer planes can but the water level of Fort Peck may not be conducive for that to happen ?
