$50,000.00 Match

"SVB is favored to win at anything on a pool table"? LMAO! You Shane huggers are hilarious. Why don't you back him in One pocket against Frost or Efren and against 4 or 5 of the best straight pool players and see how you come out

He is a great player, so are many other guys. No way i take Shane over Orcullo in 9 ball. I don't think Shane would be top 5 in Asia honestly

I promise you will get plenty of even action and if your giving games on the wire in One Pocket, you won't be able to cover the action you will get

Efren got the patience, and edge in long drawn out game with all balls up-table, I saw Justin Hall shoot one pocket and banks in Tunica, i have not seen better player than him in a power one pocket, do not know how he plays with all balls up table game, would he has the patience, certainly got endurance.

How about Gentile...he can play a little and doubt financing is an issue for him.

I ll probably get criticism for this but as much as SVB is playing right now and the level he is at, I really don't think efren has a chance playing him..and same goes for Scott frost. I'm not saying efren isn't a beast at the game but I dont feel he is the best anymore...JMO

I think more people believe this than not. This is why I believe a game of this magnitude has a chance of actually happening.

Efren's supporters still believe in the Efren of old. They believe that he still possesses enough mojo to hold off the next generation of young lions, especially in the long run at one pocket. Who can blame them? Afterall, he is THE MAGICIAN. I have personally seen this magic and it is about all that you can call it. Personally speaking, I don't know if he has enough magic left to conquer all of the young lions, waiting to take his place.

I don't believe anyone has mentioned Shannon Daulton as a possible opponent. I know from watching Shannon play for over a decade and that if he practices for a period of time and gets his head where it needs to be, he could best Efren or anyone else at that game.

I believe at one time he had the backing of one of the very successful race car drivers and others as well, so financially speaking, he may also be eligible. He certainly has the talent to compete against the Efren of today. Even as recent as 2009 in Galveston, TX, I saw that Shannon also possesses the extreme talent it will take to best The King.

Time is passing and the King's subjects may not care if he abdicates the throne in coming months and years. For now, he still commands a fierce loyalty and this too, makes it possible that such a game could take place.

This is a topic a started on onepocket.org about 6 months ago. I asked Billy I if Scott would play Efren a one pocket match for $ 50,000. Billy and I said it would be the match of the century. Here is a news flash for any Scott, Shane or Daz fans out there. Those 3 are all great players but if you put up $ 50,000 and give Efren a few weeks to really focus and prepare nobody on the planet is beating him playing even one pocket. He is an older Reyes now so if this is going to happen it needs to take place soon not when he is 80!! Its not a coincidence that almost everytime there is a huge payday in pool the check is made out to Efren Reyes. If any of these played Efren for $ 5000 they may have a chance but for $ 50,000 i still believe Efren is the best. Look how many times Efren won the derby city one pocket RACES TO 3!!! meaning in a short race like that there are alot of upsets yet Efren won like 6 times LOL TAR should do a 15 ball all around. Meaning you play all the games with 15 balls on the table. Rotation, One Pocket, Straight pool, 8 Ball, full rack banks. I believe right now in that type of format Efren is still the best. I would love to see Efren and Shane play that.
P.S. Do i think any of this will happen for big money? NOPE Efren would have ZERO problem getting staked the other 3 might be a different story. Unless one of them want to play for 20% or 25% maybe. I dont think anyone wants to put up $ 50,000 backing someone to play Efren even one pocket and only get 50%

Anyone care to think of the largest factor in this match??? The table! You put svb on a table with 4" pockets where it turns into a traditional game of one pocket imo I don't think he would get to 10. Now on a diamond with 4.5 pockets and new cloth that's a completely different story. I think its comparing apples to oranges.

Well if they played im sure they would play on a real tight table like the TAR table. However if Shane plays Efren for $ 50,000 the pockets are going to get real small.

I'm sure that most pool players would be happy to play a match for $12,500 in which they could not lose any money. Ten + grand doesn't come around every day. Getting paid over ten thousand dollars for a days work isn't bad money. If that's all that's holding up the match, I would venture to say that the match would be on.

But the bottom line to what you are saying is that NO ONE could hold up under the pressure of a fully charged Efren Reyes, playing a long race of one pocket for big bucks....... You might be right. I think Efren is slipping every day and it is just a matter of time before someone steps up to the plate.

Scott is winning so much money down here in Louisiana, if he has the cojones, he may be ready to put up his own dough.

I'll probably see him tonight and ask him if he is ready for the challenge of a lifetime.

I doubt Scott would do that and im not knocking him either. There is a BIG difference between playing weaker players giving them big weight and playing Efren even. By the way Joey how do you like my idea of a 15 ball all around?

Anyone who has ever seen Efren play has respect and fear of anything he attempts. He has been the Man fo a long time now.
however, playing a race to 15 is grueling for anyone. So what I am saying is that if it just happened to go 10-10, A Shane would have enough left to drive the nails in, and I am not sure Efren would? I am not sure he would not??
if an average game goes about 45 minutes and at 10-10, I am guessing Shane would be coming from behind and have lots more left in the tank.
I would seriously doubt Efren ever agreeing on a race to 15! I think Shane or Scott would or must jump on that chance!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it was SVB that walked away with Scott's money after playing some long matches of one pocket at Pool Sharks in Vegas last year or so, and they were playing for high dollars;)

Wasn't SVB getting a ball in those sets?

Scott Frost WOULD PLAY Efren.

I promised to ask Scott Frost about playing Efren Reyes some even up one pocket for big money and a long race and he said that he has the finances to play such a match and is able to win AND WOULD PLAY, EVEN UP.

I guess that pretty much puts a damper on those who think that Efren is a guaranteed winner.

Scott asked me to also say something else in this thread which I told him about. He asked me to say that he doesn't want to ask Efren to play such a match because he has such deep respect for Efren. Scott said that Efren was his idol.

That doesn't mean he wouldn't play him, just that Scott wouldn't ask Efren, out of respect for him.

That sure puts a different slant on things doesn't it?

Glen I love the table you did at High pockets in memphis. However!!!!!! lol

I will happily place a wager with you if they play a long race or 6 ahead or something similar. Scott is going to win more often than not. I understand that Shane runs insane amounts of balls and have watched him play 1 hole enough that i am confident if Scott is halfway patient, he will come out ahead

Playing a race to 15 in one day is just silly. Of course that favors the younger player

A race to 15 isn't that long. They could easily play that in one day. It's not like an ahead set or anything. I've played two races to 9 in one day, and also 3 races to 6. Neither day took longer than 10-12 hours I'm pretty sure.

Now if you were to say Varner vs. Walden, race to 15... That might take awhile.

I've seen a race to 5 take 7 hours playing 1 hole between two good players. The score was 5-3, so, 8 games took that long. A race to 15 could take over 20 hours. I personally don't think thats a long time to play and I'm getting close to 60. I have found its the young guys who can't play long!

Everyone needs to decide do they want to see who has the most stamina or who is the BEST player. This is just like 9 ball, all 9 ball comes down to who has the best break period. Take Donny Mills for example he is one of the best in the world at rack your own 9 ball, but take his break out of the equation and he isnt in the top 100 playing the table after the break. Same thing with playing a race to 15 in one day. What would that prove? that Shane or Scott can outlast someone that is 30 years older than them!! The best format would be race to 18 even one pocket over 3 days. Someone gets to 6 and of day 1, someone gets to 12 end of day 2 and then finish on the 3rd day. I myself am not interested in who has the most stamina or who has the best break in 9 or 10 ball. I want to find out who PLAYS THE TABLE THE BEST after the break. Thats why i suggested a 15 ball all around. One pocket, rotation, 8 ball, full rack banks, and straight pool. Play those 5 games and you will find out who the BEST PLAYER is.
3 out of 5 sets for $ 50,000. Flip for who picks first discipline and than alternate the rest of the match. One pocket race to 7, rotation race to 10, 8 ball race to 12, full rack banks race to 75 balls, straight pool race to 200
