At Grindstone Billiard Club, in Flint, Michicagn, Earl Strickland, Mike Sigel, and Rodney Morris were putting on a clinic, challenge matches, and exhibitions.

Someone offered $500 if one could break and run 45 balls without missing on a 7-foot table, giving them 10 tries.

Rodney Morris did it on the fourth, stating it was his first time doing a challenge like this. When asked what he was shooting with, Rodney said he's using a Jim Pierce cue with Kielwood.

That sounds like a fun challenge.

Imagine getting the CB in the middle of that mess... definitely want to play the edges.

I got the bright idea to try that on my 9' table a few years ago, the break did not go well, looked pretty much like that layout.
 
Kind of an aside but reminded me of years ago in Vegas Corey played Efren rotation with 30 balls. They had to run the 1-1, then the 2-2 etc. Was a trip to see that many balls on the table can’t imagine 45. I think they were racking with their arms

Wow, that is awesome. It really seems practically impossible, on a 7 foot bar table. Just amazing. Wish I could see a video of how Rodney did it. So cool.

I played with two sets on my (9') home table for a little while but used both cb too, shooting with either one at any point.

No idea how many innings it took to clear the table and it sure as hell was not 1.
 
When I lived in Wichita, Shooter’s on Hydraulic, Paul Weigand’s place, had a table setup with this rack on it. If you successfully broke and ran all 45 balls you won $100. The key was the entry. Most people paid $5 for a shot at it. I had to pay around $20/chance.

The most impressive though was Jr Brown - who had to pay $120 to have a chance to win $100 because he had beaten it so much.

It was a great action item in a great action room.

That time in that bar was about the best and most fun action I’ve ever been around. Tournaments every night. Some planned, some impromptu. That table. A dedicated 7’ ring 9 table that cost $0.25 per game with barber chairs around it.

Good times.
