Hello all, wondering if any one would let me know what the size and thread count is on a 5280 cue? Any one know if any one sells a tap for this size? Looks like a Radial but it has more threads per inch than Uni-loc's Radial pin.

Thanks, Dick

We call it either a metric radial or a 3/8-8 Radial. Many of the Chinese manufactured cues have this pin.

We never found a proper tap for it, but we made one out of an extra pin.

Fury, 5280, Nick Varner Cues, Omega, DaVinci all use the same source and have that pin.

Thanks a lot fellows. Gives me an idea of at least what I am looking for.

This is what Schmelke sells. They also have the tap for it.

Dick, I believe that's the same one Schmelke sells ( taps and pins ).

I had called Schmelke this afternoon before posting this question and I talked to Dave. He told me that they used the 3/8 X 7.5 that I believe is what Uni-loc uses. He said that they also have a 3/8 X 8 tap and pin but wasn't sure what they fit. I told him to send me the tap and one pin so that I could check it out. I use Radial pins in nearly all of the cues I build and I know that they are a real odd thread like 7.634 or some such thing. I do know that they are not 8 so I'm hoping that this 3/8 X 8 does the trick for these imports.

Dick,

The Schmelke pin, and tap are the same. I've built 10 or 12 replacement shafts for sledge hammers, which use the same radial pin. They are the chinese radials your looking for.

Thanks

Just want to say good info. thanks for bringing this subject up Dick & thanks for sharing to all.:) I can get the pins from one of My suppliers probably, but the tap would be another issue. I usually turn shaft jobs down due to this, but I do work on the pre-existing shafts. Greg C
