#6 Pockets

Ok, I have a dilemma here. I have an 8 foot Proline table with #6 pockets on it. I found out that RC designs makes the pockets for all Proline tables.

The problem I have is that whatever dye they use is coming off onto the balls, and if you lay your stick down on the pocket it comes off onto your cue too. It looks like someone took a brown Crayola marker and wrote on the pool balls or on your shaft.

Now I have contacted RC designs and they want me to send them pictures, which I am about to do. I figure they will tell me that it is normal wear and tear on the pockets, and that it isn't their fault.

My question is what kind of pocket or brand of pocket should I look for if RC designs doesn't fix this?

I want a leather pocket that won't mark up my pool balls. I literally have to clean them every time I am done playing.

RC makes a very good product both for table mfg's and direct to consumers. We've sold their pockets with no problems.
If you are dealing direct with RC I'd suggest giving them a chance to work with you before jumping the gun for another
pocket mfg (Hood Leather). Speak with Ladeen when you call RC.

Well Ladeen seems to think that is normal wear and tear on the pockets.

I had a feeling that they would say that. So now I am back to square one!

What are good pockets that the leather die won't rub off onto my pool balls?

I'm not particularly warm to any of the table dealers here in town. I'd contact Richard at the Billiard Factory in San Antonio. He's very knowledgable and I know when I worked there we carried brands other than RC. Could have been a strange defect too and it might not happen on a different set of pockets.

Sounds pretty unusual because RC makes a good product. Possibly the leather dye never completely dried in this set and it's seepiing thru the finish or the finish is completely worn off. Is this happening on all 6 pockets? Did she offer to let you send in a pocket for examination or are they just taking a wear and tear position based on photos? You could bring a pocket to a leather shop if you have one nearby and see what they say.

Another good pocket company is Hood Leather out of Wisconsin. http://www.hoodleather.com/index.html You might check them out if you intend to replace the pockets. We carry generic pocket sets (fringe or shield $149 a set) that are used on the C L Bailey tables and haven't had any problems with them.
