60 inch cue

It gives you an extra 2 inches of reach
And will get you closer to the wall in tight palces…
I’m 6ft tall, never had an issue with 58 inches,
Maybe taller people can appreciate it more.

A lot of people are using 60 inch cues, is there a performance benefit using a longer cue?
I have one on order, but you can just use a mid cue extension in conjunction with a 58" cue to tailor the length to your liking, which is what I do now with a 4" mid cue extension. I think a mid cue extension works great. I also have a 58" Cuetec with the Duo stackable extension, and I always leave the 3" portion on the end of the butt to make the overall cue length 61", which also works well for me. I don't think a 60-62" cue gives you enough added reach on 9' tables, so you would still need a long rear extension and/or be able to use a bridge.

The benefit is: if you are tall and you can't get your forearm to point straight down when addressing the cue ball--even with your little finger hanging off the end of the butt--a mid cue extension will allow you to grip the cue and have the proper bend in the elbow (90 degrees). If the mid cue extension is long enough, the player will even be able to grip the cue on the wrap. With a butt extension, a tall player will be able to move their hand back to get their forearm to point straight down, but their hand will be even further from the wrap.

If you aren't tall, I don't see the point of using a 60" cue: it just makes the cue heavier. Instead use a 58" cue and employ a long light hollow carbon rear extension for shots where you need more reach.

I'm 6'3" and two nights ago I ran a rack of nine on my 9' gc with my 42" jump cue. I see so many players who hold their cue so far back that it looks like they are getting ready to bear hug someone. I don't understand how they have any control while they are that spread out.

I have cues from 57" to 65" with no extensions. I really don't see much difference playing with any of them.

I am used to 58 inch cues which I have always been using. I do have one longer cue and it doesn't balance well for me. Just feels too funny. It could be the weight is not right for me. I am 6ft. Arm length may have something to do with it for some too. All you can do it try out a few different things to see how they work for you.

I am 6’5” and if I want to have my chin close on the cue, a standard 58” cue is not enough to have a comfortable and effective stroke. I think decades ago players shot in a much more upright stance and there was no need for longer cues. Now pockets are smaller and table is slicker and you need more accuracy and players are more often chin on cue and therefore even shorter players are using extensions or longer cues. My game went up a notch a coach told me to get a longer cue and I switched from 58” to 59” and eventually to my current 60” player.

Why not try one for yourself and make your own judgement call?

I have several. I like them. Gives me extra grip capability when stretched out on the table for a long shot. That said, I still have many 58" cues too.

You should really try one. It may or may not open your eyes into a new perspective on cue length.

You could always try 59" by just getting a 30" shaft, that's what I've done. I'm 6' and finally tried a 30" shaft within the last couple years and I've really liked it. Just gives me a little more room and reach and I don't find my grip hand getting to the end of the butt nearly as often. My current playing cue is 29" butt with a pair of 30" shafts.

I haven't tried 60" yet, haven't felt it was needed after getting the 30" shaft but if I were buying a new cue and that length was an option I'd be tempted for sure.

I got one to try. It was nice on a bar table, almost everything was in reach. I liked it, but have a 58” cue I like better.

I'm 6'1", my last 2 fingers were always off of the rear end of the cue, I had a 2 1/2" mid cue extension made, I still end up gripping the cue at the butt cap most of the time but it doesn't bother me.

I'm not a tall guy so when I used to play for money on the big tables I often used a 60.
I even have a 60 with a built-in extension. It would always outperform the bridge (in my hands).
Reach is the only advantage imo.
However, my buddy who is 6'6" uses longer than normal golf clubs which makes a lot of sense.
I would think if he used the proportional stance and bridge length that I use, he would be holding onto the bumper of a 58" cue.

I experimented recently with a 60 inch cue and went back to a 58 inch cue. I was gripping the very rear of a 58 inch but found my hand was too far back, and moving it forward seems to have helped my stroke. I'm a little under 6 foot.

I also think 58 inch cues hit better, though that's subjective and almost all of my pool has been played with that length cue.

I've got a 64" custom sneaky Pete cue I enjoy playing with it his a ball as well as any other cue I've got or have tried .
I'm 6'2" and enjoy the reach and not having to stop and get a extension to add to my cue in the middle of a run .

No it's probably not for everyone but I enjoy playing with that cue & I'm glad I've got it for when I want to use it .

I'm 6'3" and have always played with a 58" cue. I never felt 58" was uncomfortable or short.
A few years ago a buddy let me try his longer cue (I don't recall how long). Personally, I believe it helped my shot making (pretty sure). Anyway, I prefer longer cues now. For some reason, I just think I play better with them. I think Earl was on to something.

I recently got my first 60" cue really for no other reason other than I wanted to try one out and I wanted a bar cue. I purchased a SP full splice butt blank ($80) from Schmelke. I brought it to my local cue guy Joe Callalucca and had him pin it so I could use my 30" JP rouge shaft that I use on my daily player and make me a wood shaft so I had a true sneaky. It took a few days to get used to it but in the end, I got to scratch my curiosity for under $350 and the damn cue play jamm up so I am happy. If you call Schmelke, they will make you a 60" cue as well.
