7? Diamond, or 8? Golden West

I looking for some opinions about if I should change pool tables.

I currently have a 8? golden west that has 4.75? pockets, tournament blue 860 felt. It?s a little cramped from side to side. If the cue ball is on the rail and I have to shoot straight across then I have to jack up the cue about 30?.

I?m thinking about selling my table and purchasing a Diamond 7? table.

98% of all pool I play leagues and tournaments are played on 7? tables. The main issue I have with playing is leaving the ball long. I think it might be due to playing on 8? table for practice.

Should I change?
Will the 7? table hurt my game or stroke in the long run?

I think that if switching to the Diamond results in more room where you don't have to jack up on shots, that would be the way to go. Plus they are very nice tables.

You should be able to adjust after a short time especially if you already play leagues on them. Also I don't think it would hurt you're stroke. It would probably help you out more if you are playing 98% of the time on 7s

I'm a little scared to move to a smaller table. The one thing i do like about the 8' table is when i do get to a 7' there really isn't a long shot. But, i then leave the cue long. LOL.

Anyone regret moving to a smaller table?

Didn't mean to direct that to you. I get a little happy with that quote button! Your right they are bullet proof! I've had mine a year now and it looks as good as the day I got it.

I think the tougher pockets on the Diamond will more than make up for the advantage you have now with your 8'. Plus you'll practice more if you don't have to deal with the walls being to close to the table. It's too bad you can't just build an addition and get a big table.
