8 Ball Break

This is my first try at posting on youtube. I'm practicing controlling my break rather than crushing them and losing the cueball everytime. I hit these about 70-75 percent power.

Any feedback would be helpful

Nice break and with good power. But I would suggest that you try to strike the cue ball just a bit higher. On your video it appears that the cue ball wanted to squat down but then it starts to backspin to the end rail.

the concussion of the cue ball striking the weight of a full rack will naturally cause the cue ball to bounce back wards to some degree but if you add a little bit back spin to the cue ball then that's all it takes to lose it to the back rail. When breaking you need to study the movement of the cue ball because on the break that's what we mostly have control of. Like in chess and checkers if you control the middle of the table you will have a better chance win.

Thanks for the advice. You are right, I try to hit center ball on my breaks but even a little bottom will bring the cue ball back drastically when there hit that hard.

I wouldn't take much stock in what dabarbr says, he's quite new to the game. Like a few decades or so.

;)

Frank "dabarbr", knows some stuff. He can even give fish haircuts.

Be prepared for a Mcdonald bowl cut the next time I see you. Or a slight wallet trim.

Look for some information on the 2nd ball break, you may like it. It allows you to ease up on the

amount of power you use, with a greater chance of making the eight on the snap. Rolls toward either

one of the side pockets, according to the way the balls are sitting in the rack. Check out Joe

Tucker's Dvds for some great techniques. You are playing to bring the cue ball off the long rail back

to center of the table.

Your right I do like the second ball break I just prefer the head on break on a nine foot table. I like the second ball break on a bartable cause it allows me to outmove my opponent.

I'm actually trying to stop the cue ball near the center or at the edge of the kitchen like SVB does when he breaks ten ball. I just need alot more practice, but in the vid I did stop them close to the center and the two ball kicked me to the top rail.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!
